SIA implements shorter work month from 1 May
Staff of Singapore Airlines will go on a shorter work month starting from today.
In a statement, SIA says that the Air Line Pilots Association of Singapore or ALPA-S , has agreed to one day of compulsory no-pay leave for pilots for the month of May.
This comes after mediation between SIA, ALPA-S and the Manpower Ministry.
SIA says this is an interim measure to provide both parties more time for discussion on the number of compulsory no-pay leave days needed in matching head count to operational requirements.
Two of the three in-house unions had earlier signed in-principle agreements to extend the scheme to all ground staff and cabin crew from May 1st.
The unions are - the Singapore Airlines Staff Union and the Airline Executive Staff Union.
Senior management staff of SIA have adopted a shorter work month from 1 April and the scheme will apply to all other managers from today.
