HSA warns against consuming ' xp tongkat ali supreme ' capsules

The Health Sciences Authority has ordered a suspension of sales and a recall of the " XP Tongkat Ali Supreme " capsules.
This after it found an undeclared potent substance in the product, though no reports of adverse reactions have been received here.
HSA says this is the first time it has detected a potent chemical substance stored within the capsule shells of the product in order to avoid detection.
The pills are currently sold in retail outlets and over the internet.
They are distributed in Singapore by the company C-T-I Biotechnology Pte Ltd.
HSA says the capsules are marketed as a ' traditional herbal supplement for men ' and claims to be 100 per cent natural.
The label states that it contains Tongkat Ali, a natural herbal ingredient.
However upon further tests, HSA found a potent substance 'Tadalafil' which is an active ingredient in the prescription medifine Cialis, used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
Cialis is also a potent drug that should only be used when prescribed by a doctor..
HSA points out that uncontrolled consumption of ' tadalafil ' without proper medical supervision is especially dangerous.
