  Nanyang Polytechnic reopens

  Students of Nanyang Polytechnic returned to school today after a one-week closure as a precautionary move against H1N1.

  For the past one week, they have been on home learning,

  NYP adds the exercise was part of its business continuity plan to ensure its preparedness if the flu situation worsens.

  Other measures include separating business units that provide essential services.

  Two separate teams have been formed and will work from different locations.

  NYP's deputy director of Communications Division, Andre Ahchak explains:

  "What we did was, we had 2 teams of staff, team A, team B, and we put them in separate areas of the campus. This idea is to ensure that should one team member within, say team A or team B, come down or be infected by the flu, at least we know one team will be fully functional."

  The scenario will continue at least until the end of this week.

  This will supplement existing measures like temperature taking twice daily.

  Most of the students whom 938LIVE spoke to says they support the measures put in place by the school.

  17-year-old Angeline Toh understands that they are all for the good of the school community.

  "We have to take temperature twice everyday before school, if don't have the stickers, our teacher won't allow us in the class. They will tell us to take our temperature before they take our attendance or start the lessons. Sometimes ago without our sticker we couldn't get into the canteen. We have AM sticker and PM sticker, so it's quite strict."
