An SMRT train bound for Jurong was disrupted at Ang Mo Kio MRT station at about 10.30 this morning.
Police have arrested a man for attempting suicide by jumping onto the Ang Mo Kio MRT train tracks.
He is believed to have injured his arm.
According to several eye witnesses, the man, believed to be in his mid 20s, was led away by the police.
One eye-witness, Mrs Belinda Lee, was on her way to her mother's place when she spotted the commotion.
Mrs Lee describes.
"I heard the old lady screaming, crying very loudly. So, out of curiosity, many people went up to see what happened and when we went up, the train actually stopped halfway. So there was a Malay lady there, she was crying and in shock. She was in aftershock and I approached her to ask her what happened and she said she saw a man jump down to the railway. The train was stopped and all the passengers were told to alight. "
Anyone convicted of attempting suicide faces a jail term of up to one year, or with fine, or both
