A mass recall of cars made by Toyota's joint ventures in China will not affect owners of the make in Singapore.
A spokesperson from the Inchcape Group, the parent Toyota distributor, Borneo Motors, says that's because no China-made Toyotas have been shipped to Singapore.
China's quality watchdog said Toyota is recalling nearly 690,000 of its China-made vehicles after finding problems with their electric window controls.
The recall involves some 407,000 Camry and Yaris passenger cars made by Toyota's joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group.
Tianjin FAW Toyota is recalling close to 281,000 Vios and Corollas for the same reason.
The notice, dated the 18th of August, was posted on Sunday on the agency's Web site.
The notice said that due to excessive lubrication, the window switches could short out, possibly causing them to catch fire or otherwise malfunction.
