The mother left tens of millions for her younger daughter (Who is a doctor) but not the older daughter (Who is a lawyer), but nothing much for the older daughter, hence the older daughter brought her younger sister to court. The judge also felt that it was unfair of the mother to do so, but the written will which says that the younger daughter will inherit the money still takes effect.
The mother whom the judge felt unfairly treated her daughter, is a landed property investor, and died on June 2004.
She has two wills, one made in 1989, which allows her younger daughter to have almost all her inheritance, and another one made in 1996, where the younger daughter will not get anything, whereas the rest of the 5 siblings of hers will split the inheritance.
The older lawyer sister, 54 years old, brought the younger doctor sister, 48 years old, to court. The rest of the siblings split into two sides to support either of their sisters.
The judge stated that this was an unfortunate incident where the strong-willed and stubborn mother did not love her 6 children equally, and did not consider the feelings of her children when she made such a will.
The judge said: "The mother is an unfair person, even though she knew that bias-ly loving her younger daughter could result in her other children being jealous and filled with hatred, which in turn may result in a family dispute, she still doesn't care."
