Visitor arrivals registered first growth in September
Visitor arrivals to Singapore registered its first growth this year in September.
The Singapore Tourism Board says some 799 thousand tourists visited Singapore in the month.
That’s a 7.1 per cent increase over the year ago month.
Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, China and India were Singapore’s top five visitor-generating markets.
They accounted for 55 per cent of total visitor arrivals for the month.
Visitor arrivals from Hong Kong and the Philippines also improved for the month.
STB said this could be partly attributed to attractive travel packages and aggressive marketing for the Singapore GP Season.
However, the higher tourist arrivals figure did not translate into better takings for hotels.
STB said the room revenue fell 28 per cent.
