A member of the 6-man team from the Singapore Democratic Alliance which
contested the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC in the 2006 General Election, Mr
Ishak Haroun, has died.
A real estate agent, the 46-year-old Mr Ishak had been admitted into Changi General Hospital on 22 October.
His niece, 24-year-old Noor Wahidah Hairon Hanwar told MediaCorp he was
suffering from high blood pressure and went into a coma shortly after.
He died last night of heart failure.
Mr Ishak left behind his wife, three sons and a daughter.
In the electoral contest, the SDA team which was made up of several
first-timers, lost to the People's Action Party team led by Defence
Minister Teo Chee Hean.
The PAP won 68.7 per cent of the valid votes.
