Temasek to start investing in Latin America by early 2010
Singapore investment firm Temasek Holdings says it will start investing in Latin America by early 2010.
Temasek has said previously that 10 percent of its investment portfolio will be in emerging markets.
Lorenzo Gonzalez Bosco, Managing Director of Temasek Holdings Mexico,
says Latin America has been identified as the most important new market
for the time being.
It has already opened offices in Brazil and Mexico and is currently looking into what sectors to invest.
Mr Bosco says Temasek will be looking at companies that have very good opportunities to grow in their domestic markets.
It will also support companies that are becoming regional champions to
help them develop into Latin American multi national companies.
Temasek will also support companies that are looking to go into the US and Europe to expand their international presence.
Mr Bosco was speaking during the Latin-Asia Business Forum this morning.
