The number of people who have gone for anonymous HIV testing increased by 20 percentage points this year compared to the last.
According to the Health Ministry, nearly 8,400 anonymous HIV tests were done from January to October.
This compared to nearly 7, 000 done in the same period last year.
On the number of people diagnosed with the disease, MOH says it expects to be similar to last year.
There were a total of 378 new HIV cases among Singapore residents in the first 10 months of 2009.
In comparison, there were 456 HIV cases notified for the whole of 2008.
The total number of HIV infected Singaporeans, from 1985 to June 2009, is 4,159
Of those infected, nearly 90 per cent are men.
