Women in Singapore gearing up for retirement more proactively
A new survey has shown that women here are becoming more proactive about their retirement compared to 2008.
In a poll of 150 women, the Tsao Foundation-TNS annual Ageing
Preparedness Survey showed the percentage actively saving for their
retirement increased to 23 per cent - from the 21 per cent a year ago.
Eighty-seven per cent of the women also rated retirement planning as
being important - an increase of five per cent from a year ago.
In addition, 63 per cent said they are thinking about having to work beyond the age of 60 - up from 56 per cent previously.
However, the survey also showed that women’s confidence on their
quality of life during retirement dipped by three percent while their
confidence level on their preparedness for retirement dropped by six
per cent.
Commenting on the findings, CEO of the Tsao Foundation, Dr Tan Bee Wan,
said the respondents could have been affected by the global economic
downturn.
So now, more want to start planning ahead and take charge of their own lives and retirement.
