HONG KONG, Dec. 23 /PRNewswire-Asia-AsiaNet/ --
A young Olympic champion volunteered to champion the pursuit of human health in a pioneering medical field. On Dec. 20, 2009, Xiong Ni became the first health spokesperson appearing at the World Conference of Endoscopic Physicians. It's been an honor to have him promote the application of endoscopic diagnostic tools and treatment technology worldwide, benefiting human health.
"Endoscopic medicine is closely related to sports. More and more athletes tend to choose the minimally invasive surgery, which is unique in that it minimizes trauma, results in fast postoperative recovery, leaves small or no scars, and has many other advantages, so that many athletes can quickly reappear in the arena," said Xiong Ni, the winner of the men's 3m springboard at the 26th Olympics in 1996 and winner of both the single and synchronized men's 3m springboard at the 2000 Olympics.
This conference was held under the Organization Committee of the World Conference of Endoscopy Physicians; the Organization Committee of the 19th General Assembly Session of Chinese Endoscopy Physicians; the National
Evaluation Committee for Endoscopic Skills, Ministry of Health; the Chinese Endoscopy Doctors Association; the Evaluation Committee for the Endos Award in Medical Science & Technology; China Endoscopy News Net and other organizations.
The vice-director of the Ministry of Health, Huang Jiefu, made a speech as a host of this event. He said that China will implement the issuing of an "Endoscopic physician license" to regulate the medical profession in this area. He said, "This license promotes the systematic development for Chinese endoscopic diagnosis and treatment. To train and test endoscopic doctor before they work in clinical fields will guarantee patient care and pay respect to human life."
Currently, there are over ten million middle-aged doctors who can perform endoscopic diagnosis and treatment. This new medical treatment method has created a new specialized industry.
