STOMPer Alex saw this online report that says that two men in Shanghai, China are posing as Singaporeans to con young women of their money.
In the report:
"TWO
men have been detained by police after posing as overseas Chinese and
swindling more than 60,000 yuan (US$8,790) in cash and valuables from
six young women in separate cases.
"The two surnamed Lu and Zhu targeted women in their 20s at local Metro stations, police said.
"They
approached the women and asked to borrow money, saying that because
they were from Singapore their bank cards would not work in local ATMs.
They also showed fake Singaporean ID cards to convince the women.
"They pretended to call "an uncle" to transfer the amount to the women's accounts. Of course, the money never arrived.
"Police found the "uncle" was a woman, who was also detained. All the three were Chinese citizens.
