SINGAPORE: The impact of the global recall of Japanese-made Honda and Toyota cars appears to be minimal in Singapore.
Honda recalled more than 430,000 vehicles worldwide, mostly in
North America, to fix defective airbags that could blow up and injure
or kill its drivers.
Here in Singapore, only 39 Honda Accord cars are affected by it.
Distributor Kah Motors said the cars were made in Japan between 2001
and 2002.
As for the recall of Toyota Prius cars, 194 have been affected in Singapore so far.
Parallel importers, which make up 25 per cent of Singapore's market share, said they are recalling 124 Prius cars.
Meanwhile, official distributor Borneo Motors is asking 70 car
owners to send theirs for a software upgrade. 26 out of the 70 have
already done so.

Come to think of it, if Prius uses software to control its braking system, what if people go hack it. I mean as long it is software it is always hackable.
