SINGAPORE : Singaporeans usually spend the second day of the Lunar New Year visiting family and friends, but 16,331 people chose to make the Istana grounds their venue for their holiday outing on Monday.
Joining them were President S R Nathan and Mrs Nathan, who shared
the Lunar New Year joy and good wishes for the Year of the Tiger with
the visitors.
Bands from three schools - Loyang Secondary School, Victoria School and Sembawang Secondary School - entertained the visitors.
There was also a martial arts performance by the People's
Association and an exhibition of Falabella miniature horses by the
Singapore Zoo.
Istana souvenirs were also on sale, and all collections will be donated to the Community Chest.
