Deer injured on expressway

  A wild deer was injured on a Singapore expressway after it dashed onto oncoming traffic and knocked into a car. 
  
  The police received a call at half past five this morning about an injured deer lying along the SLE, near Mandai Zoo. 
  
  Eyewitnesses told MediaCorp that the deer was so big that it blocked an entire lane, causing a traffic jam. 
  
  A caller to the MediaCorp Hotline, Teo Ah Chong, said he stopped his car when he saw the deer on the expressway. 
  
  Mr Teo said the deer 'panicked' and it ran into his car. 
  
  The police subsequently handed over the injured animal to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or SPCA. 
  
  Responding to queries from MediaCorp, SPCA said it had to put down the deer, as the animal was badly injured. 
  
  It suffered a deep gash to its hip, its antlers were broken and it was bleeding from the nose. 
  
  The society added that the deer was estimated to be about three or four years old, and was a wild animal.

  One would think there is no more such animal in a concrete jungle like Singapore.

  Deers are not solitary animals...which means there are possibly more wild deers in Singapore! That is good news if it is true! After the sighting of mouse deers in Ubin and in mainland Singapore last year after almost 80 years, this is some sort of good news that wild animals are still surviving in our concrete jungle...just too bad this one died while trying to negotiate something it must have never seen before...

  It's entirely the deer's fault and it should be put down because it jaywalked, damaged a car and  hold up traffic.

  I saw it on the expressway in the morning while on my way to work

  it was really big, about 20kg and above?....it was a fleeting glimpse

  i posted a thread but was deleted.....what surprises me is that our environmental ministry for years did not take steps to protect our little "Wild Life Community"

  There are no public education on conservation and treasured of Singapore....
