that is why there is a totally lack of public education on Singapore nature and its conservation policies and a policies to maintain whatever is left walking and crawling....A good recording of our Past species found in Singapore probably was during the colonial time.

There are no public education on conservation and treasured of Singapore....
They are free-ranging, just like the free-ranging animals overseas.Nothing to institutionalise.
Don't be such a frog in the well. You must be some loser local grad
Heard there were only about 20 of them left in the wild for this species. One death = 5% of the population gone.
Quite a sad case. The deer had to be put down due to seriousness of its injuries. =X

Oh don't get me wrong if you are in Aus or US there are plenties of free ranging animals and there are plenty of road kills. I am aware of the differences.
But In Singapore you are only talking about 20 such creatures and worst of all it was thought that the 2 species of Deers in Singapore extinct some 20 - 40 years ago...
So its not about free ranging animal...its about awareness of Once loss it is Forever Vanished....i am sure you can read and see the Deer on computer monitor....It would have been better for generations to come if you can actually see lifesize not in a Muesum nor in a Zoo......just like you are living in Aus/US.

Maybe we should follow other countries, there are signs placed at the road side to raise awareness to the driver that there is a certain animals around the area and might “cross the road”.
I was wondering if deers are rarely spotted coz they are shy of the public, then why this deer was at a public area? “Exploring the world”?
Our ignorant in whats left in Singapore wild life is amazing....there are very little interest and also lack of education in the area of preservation.
Its tough to be an animal in singapore rainforest reserved land as human activities already encroached on whatever that is left.....
It is very common for deers to wonder off into the main road....I have seem Deer ran into a Gas station. or parking lot...
There were lions in Asia long time ago. As shown in the Babylonian era art and sculptures. There were lions in Greece, Persia. They are now all gone. There are still some in India though.
