SINGAPORE: A 44—year—old Chinese national has been arrested for overstaying and attempting to bribe six police officers.
The woman was spotted behaving suspiciously by police officers around King George’s Avenue on Saturday.
Upon checking her documents, the officers discovered her social visit pass had expired.
As the officers were about to arrest the woman, she offered them money in return for her release.
When the officers rejected, the woman proceeded to ask for their contact details and offered more money at a later date.
The officers did not succumb to her bribes and arrested her.
The woman will be charged in court on Monday for overstaying.
If convicted, she faces imprisonment of not more than six months, and fine up to S$4,000.
She has also been referred to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau for further investigations in relation to her attempt to bribe the police officers.
