SINGAPORE: 14 people have been arrested for distributing pirated movies and fake mobile phones at Sim Lim Square.
This after police mounted simultaneous raids at nine locations in the shopping complex on Friday.
Police seized MP3 players, media players and hard disks loaded with pirated movies.
The items have a street value of about $160,000, and may have been imported.
The suspects — aged between 21 and 34 — may be charged for copyright infringement.
If guilty, they may be fined up to $100,000, and jailed for five years.
