Marina Bay Sands has been hit by fresh delays.
Fresh reports says one of the star attractions of the integrated resort, The Lion King Show, will not make its roaring debut in September because its theatre facilities will not be ready in time.
The Straits Times understands that the award-winning Broadway musical by Disney could debut only next year.
Nearly 200 applicants who were interviewed for stage, lighting and sound positions have now been told their names will be kept on file, but no date has been set.
The delay comes after a wave of negative publicity for MBS.
The IR was set to open last December but had to push back its soft launch to April. Then, last month, at the first major event it hosted, the Pacific Bar Association’s 20th Conference, delegates complained of power failures and lack of air-conditioning in their hotel rooms.
Both sides are now locked in legal battle over payment.
In related news, the centrepiece of Resort World Sentosa’s Universal Studios, the Battlestar Galactica ride, is still closed – more than two months after it was shut down due to a “technical glitch”.
A Universal Studios spokesman declined comment on when the ride will re-open.
However, a report on Genting Singapore issued last week by Bank of America Merrill Lynch said it expects the ride to re-commence only next year.
nothing strange seriously.
Wat's real damaging is flaws tat occurs once it's put into operation.
Too many FTs invovled in the job, cheap fast and efficient - in delying openings. ![]()

wah like this new flats safe or not to live? if not after few years later, the building came tumbling down?
HDB flast all the same every level one, somemore HDB got many years experience dealing with the contractors for HDB. Les likely. The resort different. a big project with many sub divisions involved and co-=ordination on the works sure cock up1, if not immediate its later on in use. see the manpower already got problem already before opening ![]()
From my understanding, the delay of the opening of MBS was dued to the project being too huge and was dedicated to a few main contractors... (it did to lower the risk of contractors going under, but the time factor was not compromised). It was also understood that the board of committees supervising the project have been conservative & there was many bottlenecks as the main contractors had to coordinate with each other at precise timings which was a BIG PROBLEM.
Resort World started off with only one main contractor... hence finishes in time.
Sands importing was only secondary. Financial crisis (US mortgage crisis) almost crippled the MBS project. The casino operator had to stop (temporary) their projects in Macau & Manila and concentrate on MBS as there are strict penalties if projects are not completed in time.....

Quite true.
What's really damaging is starting an operation before it is fully ready.
But to wait until it is 100% completed does not make business sense. The shops, and restaurants can start of first, then the other facilities, are completed in phases.
The management must carefully decide which part of the operation is operational and keeping to datelines.

sometimes time is not on their side...the Pacfic Bar Association already booked...will look bad if they have to change venue...so MBS die die have to get it up and running for them...and as we all know....when completion date and operational date are so close...things are bound to screw up.
MBS should have do something to repair its image, like not charging for the Pacific Bar Association event as such.
heard many part of the premises still under going renovations.... anyway, Casino is their top priority...
lion king show???why dont they just get a replacement of 10 local cats running thru loops of fire, jumping over flames etc etc....

For construction projects, they usually give to a main contractor who would eventually sub the projects/ supply of materials to smaller sub contractors.
For teamwork, everyone has to learn how to coordinate and make some compromise over work plan flow at times.
