it's definitely a disgusting joke.
OT: This also remind of a singaporean 2 years back which was shot to death at a hotel in Mubai by a bunch of hostages
no choice....thats the risks of travelling....no one could have foretold such sad and tragic fate.....no hostage could hold any govt ransom....thats why lives were sacrificed...haiz......
this brings travel insurance to the fore....for beloved ones at home.....
i dun think its such a good year travelling...in fact, with rising terrorism and many other happenings ...be it natural disasters like tsunamis, earthquakes, hostage....its never been good travelling out of singapore....anything could happen....coupled with poor global economy that leads to rising global crime rates like kidnapping, hostage...etc...
perhaps IT experts should enhance virtual travelling experiences online to compensate the loss of travelling, at least for now.....
Depends on your travel insurance coverage, those cheap ones you buy from Tiger or travel agencies only cover you on the plane, you are on your own on terra firma. ![]()

When I saw the video (that's why earlier post I wondered if there were death from friendly fire), I saw them shooting indiscriminately into the bus, could have have caused some hostage casualty. ![]()
KNN, Philippines police is Keystone Cops. ![]()
I was watching part of the videos...
It seems to me that the curtains of the bus is down and snipers are unable to really take the attacker down.. (from what I see in 1 to 2 clips, i dont know).
But the police is damn hum... did u see the guy quickly go kio the hammer when it got stuck in the door... zzzzzz

it lasted half a day. they had plenty of chances.
tat one is natural reaction, who wants to die. they are not trained to deal with this. the trained ones are not activated. someone's head really has to roll.
the siege is really a joke...
the clip i watched is at the later part of the day...
Ok i saw earlier clips........
zzzzzzz the hijacker still got time to post messages on the bus windows and when he let the old man out why no one shot him zzzzzzzzz.

but aiyoh very sad news...

Just saw from tw news that a lady lost her husband and 2 daughters during the tragedy yesterday. Son in ICU. Really feel so sorry for her.
Initially the hijacker dun intend to harm or kill the hostages, is only after the mediation failed.
I guess it has to do with the philipines police way of handling the
suitation, they should have stomp the coach in a more efficient and
professional manner rather than going after the guy with a hammer which
further annoy him to fire couple of rounds on the coach.

future maids?
The rescue was utterly botched. Less harm would have been done if the Philippine Police actually did nothing.
Fail to impose a media blackout giving gunman full intelligence of what is happening outside the bus. Fail to gather accurate intelligence on position of hostages and gunman. Fail to make use of opportunities when gunman is exposed to end the situation. Storm the bus without any semblance of a proper plan (how to enter), equipment (no ladders, rapid entry devices), and what have you not. Fail to breach and start an indiscriminate firefight with the gunman with hostages in close proximity.
Seriously WTF Philippine police? The blood of the hostages are on their hands.
Thats the problem with reality TV.....once the TV is on everyone just stare at the TV and forgot to take action. Even the authority they become actors and the hostage taker is the director....
Its a Bus nothing good would come out of it by storming a narrow crowded bus. Should have just talk him out of the situation or move the hostage taker to other place.
But someone mention here may have a point to kill him for cover up. Again this is PHP.

Please have some sense of historical proportion.....!!!!
hostage taker and killing is part of Philippine.
Donald Tsang also very poor thing. He keep calling Aquino but cannot get through. Aquino must have seen his number from the caller id =(

I'm not trying to be an armchair general, but I really had to cringe while watching it.
WTF were they doing, smashing windows here and there? The element of surprise was totally lost when they did that.
At one point in time, the fella smashing in the door actually somehow hurled the jackhammer right into the bus. Huh?
And then they tried to throw lightsticks in there. No nightvision equipment ah?
All that is a great way of telling the hijacker that 'We want to storm the bus, and we're trying to smash our way in. Because we can't see you properly, we're going to light our way with lightsticks.'
Kaoz.... just position snipers around the bus, and take down the fella once any one of them got a clear shot!
Yeah, at the rate of incompetence the Philippine SWAT team have, they mind as well, take a bulldozer to try to ram a hole into the bus for the SWAT to storm in.
They make some glaring mistakes:
1) No smoke bomb
2) No night vision
3) No stun grenade
4) No flash grenade
5) No element of surprise
6) Fail to break through the window (comical)
7) Fat SWAT team, they can't even squeeze thru the door leave alone the window
8) Incompetent hostage negotiators, should hav lied to the hostage taker that they promise him and then moment he give up, give him super long sentence in jail
9) They allow the press too much freedom, even the hostage taker can watch the Live TV of the hostage
10) Police fail to instruct hostages to lie down on the floor immediately
One more thing I want to add: While they provided extra supplies to the bus, they should have sent in undercover SWAT team to spy on the condition in the bus and plan on any contingency rescue.
If anyone has tried to break a car window before or something similar with a hammer, its not as easy as one thinks. You need 2-4 good blows to get it to shatter. Don't believe what you see in the movies.
i watch the clip....i am confused as to when did the hostage taker got kill?
Did the police kill him before they stormed the bus or did they kill him after they stormed the bus?
because i only saw 1 police with a pistol that when into the bus.
