Alleged serial molester arrested

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 23-year-old man believed to be responsible for a series of outrage of modesty cases in the vicinity of Tampines Avenue 1 and Tampines Street 81 between May and October this year.
Police said that the suspect would sneak up on unsuspecting female victims and flee immediately after molesting them.
According to a police statement, officers from Bedok Police Division laid an ambush for the suspect, who was eventually arrested on Saturday evening.
The suspect will be charged in court on Monday.
If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 2 years and could be caned.
The statement added that police would like to advise members of the public to be alert and attentive to the surroundings, especially when they are alone. If they find that they are being followed by any suspicious characters, they should approach a crowded area.
