SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has announced several Cabinet changes which will take effect from November 1.
Wong Kan Seng will relinquish his post as Home Affairs Minister and take over as Co-ordinating Minister for National Security from Professor S Jayakumar.
Mr Wong will remain as Deputy Prime Minister.
He will also oversee the National Population and Talent Division, which will be set up under the Prime Minister's Office to coordinate Singapore's population and talent policies across different ministries.
Taking over as Home Affairs Minister will be Law Minister K Shanmugam, who will have two portfolios.
Professor S Jayakumar will remain as Senior Minister in the Prime Minister's Office.
Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, Lui Tuck Yew, will be promoted to full minister.
Senior Parliamentary Secretary at the Environment and Water Resources Ministry, Amy Khor, will be promoted to Minister of State.
She will remain as Mayor of the South West Community Development Council and chairman of feedback unit, REACH.
Current Parliamentary Secretary at the Trade and Industry Ministry and the Information, Communications and the Arts Ministry, Sam Tan, will be promoted to Senior Parliamentary Secretary.
Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman will be promoted to Senior Parliamentary Secretary at the National Development Ministry.
The last Cabinet changes were carried out in March 2009.

That is the first sign....and only a few gets promoted...
We still waiting for their increnment...that will be gst hike or pub hike.
Can see who are the favourites!
Whether change or not at the top does not negate the fact that MS limped/swam his way across to JB.
But it's an honest mistake.
Let's move on. ![]()
must feel for ho peng kee, this guy has been minister of state for ages for 2 major ministries only to be upstage by shanmugam.... reckon the only ministerial position for him is a minister of god...

He is not favoured.
SM Jaya is 71 even older than SM Goh, 70.
New role: Professor S Jayakumar will remain as Senior Minister in the Prime Minister's Office.
I got a feeling Jaya will leave politics when this term ends.
At least now, you can't blame him for the MS escape during the election.
He will direct you to his successor to answer your queries about the escape. ![]()
No difference. Change here & there, also need the same people on top for approval or pass down any new rules & reg.

This is called "self renewal". ![]()
All the same old people, no new people, no new ideas, no new policies, nothing new whatsoever.
Like a stagnant pool of smelly water.
I think they don't trust anyone new into the inner circle.
Harry Lee must die.
Actually Speaker's Corner and Elections Strategy oso the same... everyday same old people... lol... the rest dun dare to say a single word.. haix..
That bastard shanmugam still want to talk some cock about Singaporeans not being "exceptional".
The fucking PAP and their repressive politics created the kiasu kiasee mentality among Singaporeans in the first place.
Some here in sgforums also don't dare to criticise PAP, don't dare to scold, don't dare to think, how to be exceptional?
Shanmugam fucking bastard and his PAP filth.

This Shanmugam also didn't want to join politics.
Now talk cock about Singaporeans.
Fuck off lah.
Harry Lee that fucker is also from minority peranakan group, but want to act like some real chinese.
See also want to vomit.
It appears this man S Shanmugam, had no intention of joining politics at all!
It seems from the article that it was only with great difficulty in persuasion that he was finally made to join politics. A strange parliamentary democracy indeed where reluctant people are coerced and threatened to enter politics and made to rule over Singaporeans!
It seems the odd entry into politics of a reluctant candidate was not only in S Shanmugam's case.
Surprisingly, even the Professor Jayakumar himself, the recent Minister for Law was himself completely averse to politics. In fact, he himself states that he joined politics with great reluctance and did it as a duty to his country.
