SINGAPORE: More Singaporeans are travelling this year and they are opting for exotic and pricier destinations, undeterred by the costly packages which can go up to S$10,000 each.
Tour agency Chan Brothers said it sold 1,000 travel packages within three hours at this year's travel fair at Suntec. Sales amounted to S$9 million so far.
Tour agencies said the robust economy is seeing more travellers heading off to South Africa, South America and Europe.
They said the rise in demand is also due to increased accessibility to such places.
For example, Singapore Airlines will begin services to Sao Paulo in Brazil on 28 March.
Other popular choices at this year's travel fair are Croatia and Slovenia.
The fair is jointly organised by CTC Travel and Chan Brothers.

for me, i prefer long cruises than sitting tight between 2 aisles which your knees may at times be hit by the food carts....not just stopping over at one country...but ashore at various....that is most exotic and romantic...
i simply love ocean deeps.....than air...
