STOMPer Hero Teen feels that this teacher could have
been more encouraging, instead of writing "You should have failed!" on
his schoolmate's test paper.
The STOMPer wrote:
"I am not writing this to complain, but to highlight an incident in my school, that I am really unhappy about.
"This is the English exam paper that my friend got back recently.
"He just passed his English test.
"There are remarks on the paper left by the teacher.
"You may think the remarks would be more encouraging, rather than negative like 'You should have failed'.
"A lot of people might think it's not a big matter but to me, the teacher should not have done this.
"The teacher should have encouraged the student, and not leave such negative remarks.
"This may hurt students who have low self-esteem.
"I believe that my school, Bedok View Secondary School, is a good school.
"Everybody makes mistakes, and it's no exception for teachers too.
"I hope all teachers can encourage their students to do better, instead of discouraging them."

silly kids nowadays are so thin skinned ....... little bit of criticism, real or imagined, and they'll buay lun ..... how to survive a boss the next time ?
you know what comes to my mind first ? .... the student must have done really badly, but the teacher was kind enough to give the kid a passing mark, to keep up his average .....
Teachers these days dunno how to teach one lar. anyway they become teachers not because they like it, but because of the pay and perks. you know why there are a lot of vacancies when MOE is recruiting? reason being alot of teachers left the service when their contracts are up. it is obvious why MOE increase the pay of teachers. teachers are overworked these days, they have to come back during the holidays to work and teach, when they are supposed to take a break from work and recover and well rested when school resumes.
I see it two ways:
1. 'You should have failed' is pretty harsh; a more tactful way would be to just write 'See Me'. Any (constructive) criticisms should be done in person.
2. The student should see it as a challenge to work harder and to prove the teacher wrong.
This reminds me of an incident back when I was in Sec 4. My Maths teacher (who taught us both E and A Maths) showed on the OHP what grades the MOE expected everyone to get based on our PSLE scores.
Since I had gotten C for PSLE Maths, the MOE projected that I would get B3 for E Maths, and B4 for A Maths.
My teacher challenged me: 'Fudge, the MOE is insulting you! What are you going to do about it? Go prove them wrong!'
So I went all out to prove them wrong. I got A1 for E Maths, and A2 for A Maths.
Take that, MOE.

your teacher is great in using this as a springboard and motivation to spur you on. but then not all teachers use this method. even if all teachers were to use this to spur their students, not all students will make that leap and work hard and prove MOE wrong. some students might take this as a challenge and work hard, some simply not interested and heck care.
good what the teacher write like that.
later in uni, do exam.... you get F, you also cannot do anything.
you want pay $90 to conduct a review meh??
if you look at the pic closely....the teacher gave the student a minimum pass mark in every section. Teacher was being kind actually and this son of a bitch student posted this shit online. Fucking students these days.

Nowadays students so spoilt. There are so many people like us who don't even have proper education should feel even more hurt.

The presumption is I pay you more, so you should work more. Although this is not the trend, it is the result of increase pay. Higher pay means reduced manpower, which in turn means greater workload for the skeleton staff.
Which scenario does hero teen prefer?
1) Fail results, with "work harder!", "keep up the effort!" etc
or
2) Pass results, with whatever comments the teacher feels like putting in.
Sometimes poor exam results is caused by satan.
Satan tempt the guy to play and neglect the studies.
teacher, hentai 1?
really lah must see the student is it those kuailan type. the teacher must have been pissed and really think the shtudent hopeless already.
same as workign adult life. i know some 50 years already still supervisor. why? not excuse don;t know english. but more is the etiquete. while many may 'put up' with her, i see a lot of this type of people lah. and rally assessing all the people i had worked with so far in the company this one is one of the worse. teach also don;t know what she teaching, random go here and there. maybe don;t what to teach what little she knows also lah. everyday kaypho this and taht walk here and there. sugeesting thiongs that really my brain easily can review and know it is not right to follow. like that how to be manager? my manager not only need good supervisory skills, he also technically inclined to a certain level. if not i also will not follow him.
Huh?
My Chinese Teacher told me straight in the face that I should have failed my 'O' level chinese. (I got a B3)
I could have taken it negatively like that Stomper.
I mean seriously why can't they see it that the teacher is surprised that someone who should have failed actually passed ![]()
