STOMPer MAO came across a letter by a Chinese national
who suggested that bus stops here be renamed to 'make it easier for
foreigners'. According to the writer, Singapore should label its bus
stops and routes like what China is doing.
The STOMPer said:
"A Chinese national has asked Singapore to abolish its way of naming bus stops and also to stop wasting electricity.
"Pu
Liangzhong, in his March 31, 2011, letter which was published by Lianhe
Zaobao, raised issues with the way the bus stops and routes in
Singapore are named and claims that he had to contact his son every time
he needed to get home from an outing.
"Mr Pu suggested that
Singapore should label its bus stops and routes like what China is doing
to make it easier for the large number of foreigners who are residing
in Singapore."
According to the forum letter, Mr Pu said the bus
stop names for the bus stops for both directions of the route should be
the same, and not different, to make things easier.
"Commenting on the lighting in various HDB flats, Mr Pu added that they are overly bright and a waste of electricity.
"In
this respect, Mr Pu continued that Singapore should take its cue from
China whereby they (China) use sound/sensor bulbs which turn
automatically themselves off when not in use.
"Mr Pu also added
that with the world calling for energy-saving meausures, Singapore would
be seen as wasting its electricity on non-essential lighting."
yes yes... Mr Pu here can go to the states and get shot in the dark...
plz go back Mr Pu...
We dun go to ur house and tell u that ur TV sux...
And why isn't this guy wanna come over, shld integrate...
not insist everything shld change to become like his hometown...
"Mr Pu suggested that Singapore should label its bus stops and routes like what China is doing to make it easier for the large number of foreigners who are residing in Singapore."
It really sound like FT in SG had more right than Singaporean in SG. Maybe we shld rename it accord to China/India/Phillipines etc to make it easier for all the FT in SG. I told there always a saying "When in Rome do what the Roman do" but guess it dun apply in SG becos foreigner here shld have more right. And yes, they shld have it becos the majority of the Singaporean agree with the FT policy.
"When in Singapore, do what the foreigners do"
If some one willing to offer better options, why not try it ?
Have to be open minded about improvement regardless of where it is based on and who is suggested.
If we keep sticking to old methods, we will be replaced.
It take real courage to make that improvement if it is a geniune case and not reject it cos it is proposed by a foreigner.

I dun think u get it. It is not the case of improving but it just the FT want us to change our way so that it will be easier for them. Had u been to china before? Do u know how tough will it be for us if it change into their method. If u think abt this, labelling of bus stops/routes etc, there isn't really any better way but more like way that plp had get use to. It just like left-hand drive and right-hand drive.
Sound to me more like that the foreigner feel that we shld make them easier at our own expense. How abt our older gen that need to adept to it, how abt those older malay/india singaporean that dun understand mandarin?
Read again, - "Mr Pu suggested that Singapore should label its bus stops and routes like what China is doing to make it easier for the large number of foreigners who are residing in Singapore."
please write to minister cabinet or MP, if you can get a pass to meet the MP session, MP sure can look into the matter. ![]()
by the way i think sgforum should revamp the whole website, to allow more traffic for me whenever i surf at night. really they should do it so that it pleases people like me who surfs at night ![]()
Last thing we want is a bunch of chinky mr pu chee byes to come tell us how we should run our farking country. Someone should ask him why puxi in shanghai stinks bad?
They are making the place like their home.
It is the integration that the croonies are looking for.
So, the croonies will support the foreigners as they will vote for them.
Stop being naive by thinking that the croonies are here to serve you and the people.
They are here to stay in power and to suck your money for their fat salary.
So....every country must follow what china is doing?
Oei KNN Mr Pu Cheebye, if yr farking china is good, go back to yr KNN country. Whenever I go back to Singapore, I'm seeing more and more 'FT' invading my hometown which I'm starting to think if this is really my country...
KNN come our country KPKB... NB this your country or not?
Don't come to our country and expect us to live by your KNN FARKING RULES. FARKING VERMINS
Change to suit them? No way china man!
Time we learn French... and then change all the signboards to French.

That china guy is not really suggesting better options. His bus stops naming convention suggestion is asking singapore to be like china... so one day an indian guy come say we should name bus stop like india lah... then spanish couple come say do it like in spain...

...and malaysian come say do it like malaysian way, no bus stop, alight anything you want.
think he does not know how bus stops were numbered in e good old days. It's either by lampost (kampong area) (still used today at places like LCK Rd) or it's by House number.
Not by so and so landmark
That's why PAP must think again if they want new china citizens. Do they want to adapt to us? We would refer to bus stops like: that bus stop in front of lucky chinatown; that bus stop in front of the church, that bus stop in from of blk 135 etc.
I think he better to go back china and take a good look at their dusty and dirty bus stop. Spore bus stop already nice, clean and tidy, some comes with the digital arrival time of the bus. The only boring thing is all Spore bus stop is the same. Should have some creative and wonderful patterns.
We don't go to his home country China and tell them what to do with their country so why should he open his big mouth and tell us what to do. If he is unhappy with the way things are in Singapore, he can always leave.
I have wrote a complaint letter to government asking them to publish letters of 4 different language.
They din reply me.
I am gonna write to PM Lee office asking him to publish letters with 4 languages.
My ahma don't understand government letter.
All English.
