Dead body in water tank also. ![]()
Seriously, if I were those residents, I'd probably sell back my flat to HDB and move to another bock. ![]()

Like I said earlier in this thread, having been in the business of installation and commissioning of hdb flats water tanks. I would still boil the water for consumption, regardless the occasion. Dead cats, rats, maids, and cockroaches nonwithstanding.
NO EXPLANATION

Water supply restored to block where body found in rooftop water tank
SINGAPORE : Water supply has been restored to Block 686B, Woodlands Drive 73, where a dead body was found in the water tank on Monday.
The water supply came back at around 2am on Tuesday, but residents said they are still afraid to use the water.
Authorities stopped the supply on Monday afternoon to clean and flush out contaminants from the water tanks and pipes.
But residents said they were getting trickles of dirty water from their tap even till around 5pm or 6pm.
"I
stood in the doorway to see them release the water for testing. The
water was very disgusting. It was very brown, so I do not dare to use
it," said one resident.
This has left most people in the block
yearning for clean water and a few salesmen have been quick to take
advantage of the situation.
"This morning, some fellow came by to introduce the water filter," said a resident.
Sundry stores and minimarts nearby have also been experiencing a spike in bottled water sales.
See
Bee Hong, a minimart retail assistant said: "Some families would come
for 2 cartons, some would be 4 cartons or 3 cartons. It's really a
bumper sale I should say, yesterday."
The victim, who was found dead in the tank, was a 30-year-old Indonesian maid living in the block.
Police said the Indonesian embassy is helping to get in touch with her family members.

THE water at a Woodlands block where a dead body was found in a rooftop water tank on Monday has been deemed safe for consumption.
This, after the affected tank and three others were shut off, while flushing, washing and sterilisation of an unaffected set of four water tanks also serving the block were carried out.
In a statement on Tuesday, national water agency PUB said it had confirmed that the water was 'safe for consumption before the supply was restored at 2am this morning'.
It added that the Sembawang Town Council had also flushed the pipes of the tanks.
The statement also added that the four affected tanks are being cleaned and sterilised and will be put back into use only after water samples from the tanks have passed laboratory tests.
On Tuesday, the town council and PUB officers went door to door to reassure residents the water was safe for drinking and advised them to run their taps for five minutes as a precaution.

积点德. these are the people who provide domestic help while bread winners are out at work. these are the people who clean the toilets and sweep the roads etc etc. without them we will have even more problems.
be fair to them.
OMG. It’s going to be like “Dark Water” (Japanese horror film).

If the water is safe, they should get all the 80 plus PAP MPs line them up at the void deck to drink 1 litre of the safe water. ![]()
If it's safe for our million dollar paying Ministers and PAP MPs, I will have more confidence in drinking the water. ![]()

Everything is fine, nothing is done sloppily, there are standards and protocols followed, just that I would always take the precaution to boil water before drinking, regardless.
To prove that the water is safe from consumption, I urge the mps and the grassroots leaders and members to drink the water directly from the tap to the residents so as to prove that the water is really safe and pure.
What you think?

I'm surprised that there is no security access in the water tank area. Is like anyone can just add "stuffs" into our water. Town Council should do something to the access and make sure they conduct checks frequently!

$$$$$$$$$
Money.
Are you willing to fork out extra.
Water tanks can be declared protected areas, and have armed guards controlling access.
Frequent checks do not guarantee safety.
Things always happen between checks.
So, boil your drinking water first, just in case.

OF COZ NOT getting those armed guard controlling the access like istana la. but rather lock up the area and allows only authorised personnel to access? is like any ah mao ah gou can just climb in and pollute the water. imagine some insane people throw poison into the water tank. Boiling of water still got use ma?
Think the residents of the affected block should ask the town council to change the water tank and the entire piping system. ![]()
If I were the residents, I would have sold the place and move to another location. ![]()
A BANGLADESHI maintenance worker was charged with the murder of an Indonesian domestic worker at the rooftop of a block of flats in Woodlands.
Md Bepon Mostafa, 27, is alleged to have caused the death of Ms Ruliyawati, 30, at Block 686B Woodlands Drive 73 between 7.10am and 9.54am on Monday.
The maid's body was found in one of the eight water tanks atop the 15-storey block.
Ms Ruliyawati, married with a child, had been working for an employer on the sixth floor of the block.
Mostafa was remanded for investigation at Central police division lock-up for a week.
If convicted, he faces the mandatory death penalty.

hmmmm....me thinks alot of foreigners have been using the roof top tank as a swimming pool....after all its clean and safe to drink..so its definitely good to swim in when its hot n sunny.....
THE Sembawang Town Council (STC) is restricting access to rooftop water tanks so that only town council staff have access, in the light of the murder of an Indonesian maid on Monday.
The body of Ms Ruliyawati, 30, was discovered in a water tank serving the residents of Block 686B, Woodlands Drive 73. On Wednesday, Bangladeshi cleaner Repon Mostafa, 27, was charged with murdering her between 7.10am and 9.54am on Monday.
The grisly circumstances of the incident has raised questions among residents about how strict the town council is about access to potentially sensitive areas like HDB block rooftops, which house water tanks.
STC general manager Soon Min Sin told The Straits Times that as of Wednesday, keys to the water tanks would be given only to town council staff.
He added that the locks on all eight tanks in Block 686B have also been replaced.
While the lift repair crew has keys to the roof, they will not have access to the water tanks.
