SINGAPORE: A 49-year-old man has been arrested for trying to bribe a policeman.
Police said on Monday that the suspect wanted the officer to release him after he was nabbed for possessing a flick knife.
This happened at
about 6.45am on Saturday, after the suspect entered Singapore through
Marina South Pier while travelling to the Philippines.
A flick knife with a blade of 7cm was found in his baggage during a x-ray screening at the customs checkpoint.
The suspect was referred to duty officer, Corporal Muzaffar Mohd Hasan.
During the interview, the suspect offered cash of S$50 to Corporal Muzaffar in return for his release.
Police said Corporal Muzaffar warned the suspect, rejected the bribe without hesitation and placed him under arrest.
