Be careful that you do not convert to CHC after seeing all the love we give to the world.
I wonder it it is ok to terminate employment of a CHC going employee on the ground of potential health hazard as they said, stupidity is contagious.
Balls.
Guys, in all this mess we need to realise that Kong Hee and Sun Ho are not real Christians. They are what the Bible calls' wolves in Sheeps clothing'.
You don't need to be a rocket scientist to realise that Sun Ho's music is not of God. If it ain't of God then it must be of the devil-only two options. She appears to have sold her soul to the demons of rock music for fame and fortune.
You probably realise that if the $23million was really used for God's work then they could have bought several shiploads of rice and fed millions of starving children in Africa. Millions are now dead because of the greed of Kong Hee and Sun Ho. Their crime could almost be classed as mass murder-obviously legally not, but morally so.
These selfish imbeciles have fleeced and conned the dumb CHC pew warmers and used the funds to satisfy their own greeds and lusts.
Please do not look at them as examples of pastors or christians as they are not even a Christian's toenail. There are plenty of sincere Christians doing God's work who are great examples of Christians. Of course the greatest example of ALL is Jesus Christ, who sacrificised His life, dying on an old rugged cross, to save sinner like you and I. His blood cleanses from all sin and can make us clean and pure before God. If we believe in our heart in the Lord Jesus Christ and confess Him with our mouth we shall be saved. Of course we need to change direction in our lives and live for Him. Not just words like Kong Hee but REALLY living for God in our hearts and lives. There are still sincere churches in Singapore that will not con you like CHC.
The best thing you can do is boycott Kong hee's 3 businesses and tell others the same and encourage all CHC members to freeze funds, not donate. Tithing is a deception based on Catholic indulgences.

Auscli, you were going great. I am with you all the way until .."The best thing you can do is boycott...".
I somehow doubt that these 3 businesses are important for Kong. Anyways, with 15000 morons buying Ed Hardy Tattoo printed skulls...how to boycott.
Besides, these stores are only facade to hide the real money.
Did anybody try to calculate the amount of cash that flows through City Harvest Cult?
On top of my head:
With average of 15000 people in the past 10 years,
on average giving S$ 50 Cash per week (The CHC reported averages are much higher)
This adds up to S$ 36,000,000 per year.
Times 10 years = 360,000,000 Million
The S$ 50 Million is only tip of the iceberg. The cash money regrettably can never be traced, and is stashed in various investments. Ask Mr. Hanafi, he will have some idea.
This is why Kong can continue to act cocky. He can no longer be boycotted. He knows he will not serve long in jail. and when he comes out, he restart with all the money out there working for him while I type...

Originally posted by BroInChrist:Many churches collect tithes and offerings that go towards the operating expenditure of the church. In that sense, givers normally leave it to the leaders to use the money "for God's Kingdom" and there's little to find fault with.
I think the problem with CHC is that monies earmarked for specific purposes were used for other purposes and there was no transparency. Perhaps had they initially asked for monies to be donated specifically FOR Sun Ho's music career they could used it until song (pun intended).
This is itself a problem. If there is no proper recording to avoid potential fraud, it is as bad as fraud.
If there is no fraud, what is there to hide by not recording?
Originally posted by speakoutfor:I know some christian colleagues, we always share our beliefs and debate over it. I debate about buddhism and then they will debate to me about christianity is better than the rest.
But one issue I don't understand is why some christians donate a good part of their wealth to the church. Its not small sum, it is like, some of them save $10,000 and then thinking of using for other means like deposit for house or that new car, then one day the pastor preaching, say there is a need for new building fund or some ministry in some desolate area - they decide to channel the money to the church. They tell me its for the extension of their kingdom in heaven.
When this money go into the pockets of the pastors, there is great great temptation for abuse of power. There is ABSOLUTELY no accountability. They don't audit their accounts at all. I got a friend (an ex gf) who works as an accountant at a big church, she tells me that there is no control on where the expenses go to. No signatory, no authorisation letter. The pastor just tell her to deposit this money or that money into this anonymous bank account or pass large swarths of cash to this certain leader of the ministry. All this goes on without the knowledge of the congregation.
Unlike the big listed corporations, they have internal audit and proper controls in place to ensure no abuse of power and money. Churches have none of this.
This Kong Hee case is a good development. At least the singaporean government have laws to protect the congregation.
In malaysia, the govt don't bother as long as its not a government bribery case. So the churches here can go anything they want with the money. Last year christmas, I was forced to attend the church by my christian boss (but I still remain truthful to buddhism), just out of respect for other religions. So during the service, I watch them pass the offering bag around. But I refuse to give a cent. Even when they say its for a good cause, money goes out to help the orphanages, the poor and the homeless. But how much of this money really goes to the underprivaledge? before it channels and end up into pockets of pastors and senior church leaders? City Harvest is a good example of abuse of money.
If there is a good God, I am sure if I do plenty of good deeds and it will please him so that I will have a larger kingdom in heaven.
What is wrong with this logic? Nothing.
Just that nobody has any proof that it works. So some crook comes to say that donating large sums WILL work. And suckers think it will work.
JT I agree with you The figures stack up because some will give less but one guy gave him 600 grand so that covers the free riders for a while.
I agree , he's an arrogant prick and so consumed by greed that he won't change his ways.
Staggering figures...it's a colossal scam and all the top dogs are in it. Pringle from C3 Sydney,KH's "advisor" is probably in it up to his eyeballs. That's why he's in Spore.
You mean to say KH has a tatoo shop, as a pastor of a church?
One thing that could be done is a publicity stunt outside the courthouse. Gather up a few hundred of Son Ho's CDs, that no-one wants anyway, and smash them in front of the cameras on the big day.
