1. Hirer or Relief
Unless I fail my primary school maths or I really went bonkers, I find that there is almost no figurative (means numbers-wise, quantitative/not qualitative) difference between becoming a Hirer and just staying a Relief. It all boils down to just a matter of personal preference, habit or lifestyle..like some prefer cool nights, some prefer daytime clearer, some prefer weekends or alternate days.
2. Queue or Dont Queue
There is again almost no difference, except some prefer to stay put save petrol enjoy aircon read papers do some housekeeping, some prefer to skip boring queues rove around try luck.
3. Short Distance or Long Distance Pickup
I also find there is almost no difference whether a passenger hop on and says go 3 blocks down the road, or wants to do a cross country stamp passport. Actually its all just up to the cabby's own mentality, in his/her head, whether he likes (accepts) it or not. Sure Long Distance sounds nice to everyone, but treat it as an unexpected surprise, not an expected norm, that makes Life alot easier. My mindset to queue is to guarantee pick up Any Passenger, not to guarantee pick up a Long Distance Passenger. I left that to Lady Luck BEFORE I decided to join the queue.
Maybe I am still relatively new at this (or maybe my experiences are different), but honestly the above are what I had observed repeatedly and can feel quite confidently about. Do share your experiences if they are different, but these are still just my personal opinions.

Hirer OMO or hirer half shift , make a diff .
If hirer got relief , reliable one , hirer better .
If hirer OMO , be a relief is better .

yes i agree too thanks for sharing your experiences which is definitely way more extensive than mine ![]()
on top of those that mentioned by bros here, i got another 1 that always got me wondering...
last thurs, town was full of png. i got a "taiko" from stamford road to sengkang. well, my consolation was the extra $3. after alighting pax, i quickly find xway chiong to town again.
as i drove past compass pt, i saw close to 20 cabs queuing nothing!! i was asking myself, do they not know town is in a chaos now?? or they are simply 饱买包 type?? 1 thing i realised while glancing tru, most are all typical ah pek taxi drivers....
when i reach town, drove past fu lu shou bus stop, which always many ppl like to flag for cab. i went past them like transparent. (its just a left turn and its cbd).
after passing them, i saw 2 cabs stopping for them!! at that point of time, i was asking, who is the crazy cabby now?? me or them??? i believe it boils down to personal preference. but, i feel like asking those who stop so near to cbd. do you go off after pax alight at a'prt, even you see the queue is moving damn fast?? if yes, i got to salute them. if no, then why stop at fls bus stop last thurs around 9+pm???
i do not purposely go into cbd during 5-8pm. if pax send me in, i say thks with another meaning.
i'm a sweeper from 5-8pm. but once after 8pm, i go into town. irregardless of wherever pax send me to, (in case got taiko), i still chiong back to town. to and fro till ard 12am.
wee's , me every immediate connections is very important if you are far from town. regardless of cbd extra's, time is more important.
of course it makes a big difference if you are so near to town - then chiong back with transparency that you have cukoo eye....cannot see pax at perimeter...
but once you have no more immediate connections, no point roaming the street. Roll down to town...
