SGM40 vps - Wats the merc fuel consumption like? heard from some merc cabby saying its more fuel efficient then crown... issit true?
I not sure how true is this, but my buddy says he's been talking to some Merc cab drivers and claims that 800-900 Km per full tank is possible. Got one Malay Merc cab driver even claim that he can hit above 1,000 Km on 1 tank. Buddy says he looked at his fuel gauge and odometre and notice that it's already hitting 500+ km with less than half tank consumed. Of course, whether he got reset the odometre when topping up or not is another matter.
But, if it's true that 800 km is achievable for 1 tank, then it's very very impressive indeed.

Well, I didn't got the chance to calculate the fuel consumption. I paid $1 for every 10km. Didn't top up for my hirer too. He will top up becos he insist using commercial diesel instead of COMFORT diesel.
If many people say it is more fuel efficiency as compare to SONATA, then it must be quite true. Not sure about CROWN..
I think we can't compare fuel efficiency between 2 different engine model if the CC are different too.
As a driver, we are (try to) to practise good driving habits... as follows:
Proper warming up of engine
Proper maintenance
Properly inflate yr tyres
Gradual take off or don't drive aggressively. or use 'economy' mode
Avoid prolong idling
Remove unnecessary load
Gear to correct gear and always use top gear when cruising on express way.
Most importantly: Treat this taxi like yr own car!
