Not really. I had a very unpleasant time with a New Yorker teaching at the SAS. Told me and insulted me indirectly by saying New York cabbies know all their routes. Somemore New York much bigger than Singapore. She says our roads very simple one, why got so much difficulty using the shortest route every time.
So I told her maybe she should start driving taxis part time and see how difficult it can be initially.
I already told her from the start of the trip. I not sure of shortest route. I suspect she takes taxi regularly and already know the exact route, but she pretend pretend say dont know. So as I proceeded but kept asking for directions and we got there based on her instructions. But hor, I had to endure the ridicule from the chao angmo lady all the way.
I also suan her, say I dont know the best route because I will never come to her tai-ko address to pick passengers.

If she is my pax she will be dumb stuck with my answer. She thinks New York cabby knows all the road becos they mostly drive in their own vicinity. Manhattan is very easy one...all squares and parallel avenues. Everywhere is very easy as compared to SG.
New York suburb is very simple.
Most cabbies in Manhattan there are immigrants, and Foreigner. All kinds of attitude. Ask her to tell the cabbies there best route, shortest routes, cheapest routes.
If She thinks she knows her best routes - then i will only purely follow instruction to drive her way point by point.

When Pax asked to use the best routes. I will always ask what's he or her preference routing...becos my best and preferred routes may not be their preference....Period.
I can only recommend but up to them to accept. If they think my route is no good then please give instructions before hand. So there will be no dispute.
