  THE BEST PHOTOS of SANNO MATSURI in TAKAYAMA, SPRING 2010. 
  
  The photos were taken by our skilful on-site reporter : ) His VIP pass enabled him to get inside of one of the Yatai - festival floats, and take exsclusive photos, hard to be found on the World wide web. Our reporter even rolled up his sleves and helped with bringing the floats out of their storages and getting them ready for the procession. It was a hard work considering that he also had to take hundreds of photos. He deifintely earned his koku of rice for the day. I think we should all say Domo Arigatou Gozaimashita Atsushi-sama! You saved the day! ; )

  It's call Owara Tamaten - made out of egg white, though looked like tofu and tasted like marshmallow. It would made a good, different type of dessert but a little too sweet for me.

  Mitarashi-dango

   

  

  One of the more popular street snacks in Takayama are mitarashi-dango, skewers of grilled rice dumplings (mochi) coated in a soya based sauce. In fact, the unmistakable smell of burning vegemite will certainly lead you to their location.

  They are excessively salty and extraordinarily chewy, and will keep you chomping for a good five minutes.
