Beppu-Hatto
Beppu had been as the representative of hot springs in Japan.
The amount of Hot Spring outputs and sources are ranked as the first in Japan.
The town of Hot Springs, Beppu,has 8 different famous hot springs spots and it’s called as “Beppu-Hatto”.
Beppu Hot Springs
Beppu hot spring is located near Beppu Station.
As you can see from the photo on the left, the Takegawara Hot Spring was founded during year 1879.
The retrospective style has become the symbol of Beppu and it is also shown through different kinds of mass media.
It has sunayu (hot sand bath) inside, which attracts both domestic and international travelers
and tourists who come to enjoy the onsens every day.
Ekimae Koto hot spring
It has sunayu (hot sand bath) inside, which attracts both domestic and international
travelers and tourists who come to enjoy the onsens every day.
This is the very popular Ekimae Koto hot spring near Beppu Station.
It only takes 2minutes to walk from Beppu station and is available 24hours a day
so you can enjoy relaxing in the onsen whenever you prefer.
On the second floor, you would also find both wide rooms for multiple persons and
single rooms which are offered at a low affordable price.
Kankaiji Hot Springs
Kankaiji hot springs is the one hot spring which you can command a wonderful view of Beppu Bay.
Located here is the Suginoi Hotel which is one of the leaders of all Beppu hotels.
Suginoi hotel’s ‘Tanayu’ has a wide area of roten-buro(Open-air hot spring).
While enjoying the hot springs, people can view the Beppu Bay and city.
The guest will be able to feel as if they are soaking in the sea.
Hamawaki Hot Spring
Hamawaki hot springs is said to be the original hot spring here. This hot spring is the most historical one in Beppu.
It has long been a famous “Toji” (therapeutic hot spring) spot. In 1817, during Edo period this hot spring was the top ranking.
Currently, health care facilities made of hot springs has been built up and being visited by citizens every day.
Myoban hot springs
Myoban hot spring is famous for being a “Toji” resort (therapeutic hot spring), unique sulfur smell,
and bubbling white hot water. The symbol of Myoban hot spring is the Yu-no-hana Goya (Flower hut),
where the mineral deposits left by hot springs (Yu-no-hana) are used to make cosmetics and shampoo.
Horita hot springs
Horita hot spring has flourished since the Edo period (1603 - 1868 AD) as a tourist attraction.
You would feel comforted while you take the water which smells sulfurous softly.
Horita also provides an open-air bath where visitors can feel the sense of seasons.
Kannawa hot springs
Kannawa hot springs is a place with numerous hotels where you can see impressive steam.
The traditional cooking method “Jigoku-mushi” which uses these steams by hot springs to steam
vegetables and fish is especially famous. The facilities used for making these dishes have been opened
since March 2010 and now every day it is a scene of bustle and excitement.
Kamegawa hot springs
Kamegawa hot springs is in a quiet location near the sea. It is famous for its hot sand bath
which invites guests to lie within the sand.While you are couered with sand heated by the hot springs,
you could be relaxed hearing the sound of sea waves.
The calm ocean waters helps you relax while time slowly passes by.
The sand hot springs can accept more than 10 people at one time.
Shibaseki hot springs
Shibaseki hot springs is an hot spring hidden in the mountainous valley.
There are 2 types of hot springs here which are differentiated by temperatures as well as open roof hot springs.
Furthermore there are also steam rooms and private hot springs for family use.
Nearby are some walking tracks into the forest and can be concluded with a dip into the Shibaseki hot springs.
