I will write about my birthday cards (I got 11 birthday cards this year! Amazing! Thank you so much.) and birthday weekend (quiet because I was feeling under the weather) when I have more time, but I just want to show you this one thing. I woke up to the sound of the doorbell on the morning of my birthday. I was still in my pajamas. The mailman brought me this big, heavy box and inside was a durian!
ATSUSHI and his friends chipped in and got me a durian fruit for my birthday!!
My Durian
You know that the durian fruit is my favorite fruit in the world. It is massive and strong smelling and spiky and tastes/looks like sweet French cheese. I tried my first durian in Zanzibar, but have eaten it all over the world since then. Here are posts of durian I have eaten...
Hong Kong durian fruit and
Thailand durian fruit.

The durian was shipped from Thailand to Tokyo and then to my home. Just so you know, durian fruit is not native to Japan. It's also not popular and it's also very heavy. One portion of durian in Shinjuku costs about 1300 yen. My durian was the biggest size (about 7 pieces) so you can imagine how much it cost just to buy the fruit let alone the shipping. Atsushi is one of the most thoughtful people I have ever met.

I am so glad we are friends!
Have a great time in Brazil,
ATSUSHI!
The durian was absolutely delicious and such a thoughtful bday gift.
