LTA reviewing how service in taxi industry can be further improved
SINGAPORE : The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is reviewing how service in the taxi industry can be further improved and will announce the improvements by early next year.
In a written answer, Transport Minister Raymond Lim said LTA has been working with the Singapore Taxi Academy on a number of initiatives.
For example, since July, a computer-based English assessment, the Workplace Literacy Computer-Adaptive Test, was adopted as a more systematic method of testing the English proficiency of Taxi Driver's Vocational Licence applicants.
LTA added that it plans to tap into the S$1 million Taxi Fund to improve taxi information at taxi stands in the next few months.
It will also use the funds to construct temporary taxi stands in the Chinatown area during the Singapore River Hongbao event early next year.
The fund, which was set up last year, was intended as a temporary measure to provide some help to the taxi industry during the economic downturn. -

F lah, as long as they dun waste resources go night safari check on TDs TDVL and catch TDs smoke in their taxi can already...
BTW I got a TDVL and I'm a non-smoker...

TDs only care about revisions to the taxi fare, ERP, booking charges and location surcharges. Everything else is meaningless.
Its time they gave us some incentive to make trips like Far East Plaza > Marsiling between 8-11pm worthwhile.

Does Lemon Lim know that in order to improve service (or in any industry) we need to make the provider happy?
Increase fare lah. Meter on $5. Then 700-930am and 1700-2000pm anywhere got $3 surcharge, CBD $5 surcharge.
Taxi is only for those who can afford (or who can sponge the company to pay). Peasant can take MRT or bus. Like this better to ease traffic mah.

Well , LTA can do what they can ..... I just follow where the carrot is hanging .
A few years back , they said NEL MRT will solve some problems , really ? I dun think so .
Then they said Circle Line will solve some ? Really ? I also dun think so .
Now they are hurrying the other one , dunno called what line , i also dun think MRT can really help to solve those problems .
Again , taxis still dirt cheap for some who can afford .
Many can afford , not some .

Anyway , my taxi meter will spoil is bottom no tariff .
Now still working , cos every trip , bottom surely got some funny numbers .
That is what i am more concerned with .
