Dear to all Guru,
Currently driving as a relief driver for silver cab. Thinking of giving up my full time job becoming a full time taxi driver. Would like to ask all guru which cab comapny offers the best deal for full time n if possible can advice on the daily rental? Currently m looking at 2 company, 1 transcab wish and also comfort delgro sonata. I believe there is contract for both company, n wouldn't mind waiting for a brand new cab. Please do give me some advice n really appricate it. And also another small queries, regarding about the mention post that i see, that is regarding about speeding. Is it because of Gps fitted on the car as for them to track cabby whether they r speeding?

Half half .... not GPS to track down cabbies speeding .
If ever pax complaint u speeding bla bla bla from where to where , while commuting them .
The only thing they can track from the complaint speed is from taxi meter .
But GPS can determine the pick up point , the route you used and the drop off point .
The date , the time , the price .
The distance .
In the industry , only TransCab and CDG has got the GPS faciltities .
I do not know about SMRT , i think also can .
Others like Silver , Smart , those without a MDT , or GPS Terminal link to MDT , cannot .

Dear to all Guru,
Currently driving as a relief driver for silver cab. Thinking of giving up my full time job becoming a full time taxi driver.
Thinking ? Yo , u have decided to quit la , long time ago .
Or u will never try driving relief .
Before i suggest , what u currently working as ?
I usually "interview" drivers before they join , hahahahah .
Comfort rental : $105 average max
TransCab Wish : $106 maxi
Both with free rental per year .
Both with Non Claim Bonus pay out .
Diesel price : $0.99 per litre
CNG price : $1.04 per litre before 8% discount .
Now CNG vs diesel , rough on par same price per litre liao .
CNG ?
Depends where u stay , some people think it's troublesome to go all the way to top up before going home .
Me ?
Me stay CCK , a must to bypass areas like Toh Tuck or Mandai before going home .
CNG taxis not for people stay places like Punggol , AMK , Sengkang ..... cos Serangoon North Station sucks .
I future , Tampines has got CNG station , then good for you .
But again , pls la , going OMO ?
For god's sake , new bird , go into relief 1st , OMO later tha say .
OMO ?
New bird driving taxi , drive a few days , can chiong one .
But once go into OMO , drive 365 days ,. very fast punctured one .
Believe me , many people turn OMO , is less happier than people going into relief .
OMO does not guarantee you bigger salary .
Relief doesn't mean lower salary .
But relief guarantee you better health .
If u intend to go into Hirer-ship , pls dun worry about contract , anyway only 1 year .
OMO with contract is the last thing on my mind .
OMO with contract , with Comfort , over my dead body .
Unless u going for OMO TransCab Wish .
Cos however u drive , hardworking or idle , every 10th of the month , they will give $665 benefit .
TransCab Wish , every bookings given to us , do not have $0.50 levy .
When u take a CDG , every booking Comfort levied $0.50 .
TransCab Wish , paxes can pay by DBS And POSB Nets only , Visa Masters AMEX and MRT card .
CDG cannot pay by MRT card , others same .
TransCab on Sunday , can collect $3 from MBS .
Comfort on Sunday , cannot collect $3 from MBS .
Only plus point for Comfort , alot of bookings . Majority of Singaporeans will call them when in need a cab .
Plus point for TransCab WIsh , less noisy engine .
Plus point for CDG , midnight at ulu places , good bet a call sekali came in .
Good point for TransCab , now only less than 8000 taxis in all , less competition for bookings .
COMFORT has got over 16,000 taxis . Too much those competitions .
If u want a relief , more relief would want to drive for Comfort than Wish .
Unless u are staying areas around West side .
Now more people wanting to relief for Wish , cos rental is cheap .
My relief's rental only $35 , 2000CC Toyota Wish .
Brand new Wish , less than 4 months old when he first drove .
He started 6am , end 3pm .
But relief for Comfort , minimum $45 rental , and that's a old Sonata , can be as much as $50 - $53 for newer Sonata .
Now Wish anytime , $45 max rental if u can find one .
The rest of the taxi company ?
If u cannot find Comfort or Wish , then u find them .
Thanks for all the infor n feedback gurus. I have being driving for around 9 months as a relief. Poolman u mention that both company have rebates, every mid months, does it applied to comfortdelgro? And also the rate that u mention for wish is before rebate right? And also how long to wait for a new cab? for both company? Frankly my full time is really down now, would like to do this cabby thingy for 1 max 2 yrs than quit n do my own stuff. Save up on capital, m concern about the contract issue as if i return cab earlier or 1 year time it might be a great loss if there is a hugh penatly involve. Please do give of your pro advice. I m staying at toa payoh, so i guess CNG might be a problem..... but that all depends on the rate there r charging.
When u drive a Comfort , u can expect alot of calls , calls without desintation .
It's one of the strategies , that when too many call Comfort , TransCab Wish will benefited from it . Calls with destinations . Except for regulars .
Trade secrets , hahahahahah .

Rebates ? Comfort got nothing one , only got lots of calls .
dont drive taxi la
OMO 365days a yr is not easy
if i can find a job i will go back full time job
got cpf got benefits
sick can just mc, month end money still there
now i sick i still need pay $105/day
u drive relief , like wat poolman said "New bird driving taxi , drive a few days , can chiong one"
u drive 365 days like how u chiong as relief, sure punctured very fast, maybe earn lesser den relief

If i can find a job , offering me $3000 a month , average 8 hours per day working , with CPF , MC and annual leave , i would have done it long time ago .
But local employers can only gamble me with just $1300 basic plus 0.25% sales comm , and i need to finance my own car , go to hell ! Hahahaha .
Then they complaint Singaporeans dun want to work for them , then they employ foreigners to do , phui !
Then sales cannot met target , closed down .
Serve them right ! Hahahah .
Driving a cab is good , if u possessed self discipline all rounder . Vital factor to be a good cabby .
If ur girlfriend or spouse is understanding , plus your kids not affected by a night shift working parent , then relief night is good .
There is no need to go into OMO .
OMO u'll lose more than a relief .
OMO basically no life !
Sounds good , freedom ...... can own time own target , that's theory , on paper , paper talk . Can do won thing in the afternoon , then this then that ....
But in reality , your body cannot cope with those demands .
Then u realized , "hey , i am earning less than when i'm relief , what's wrong ?"
Many had tried , many had surrendered .
poolman, i recently took a cab, and the driver told me that the minimum age to be a cabby change to 31 years old liao, can i comfirm with you? Why is that so?

I don't know who to believe , but i believe in internet .
I was here in this forum since 2003 .
3 years after i started off as cabby .
I've seen many asked me about being OMO .
Went into OMO , and disappeared !
Some OMO quitted for good .
Some OMO found a relief .
Some OMO became relief ( throw keys )
Some OMO change working timing like change underwear .
Only a few OMO , survived , but i think their salary cannot match those who is working half a shift .
Some OMO actually work half a shift , from 3pm onwards til 6am , like me .
Some OMO worked from 6am , 8pm must reached home .
I haven't seen an OMO , working 15 hours a day average , everyday , and still alive and kicking .
If CK Tan has got 9 months taxi experience , i think it's fair he give OMO a shot !
Cos without trying , he never will know where he stand .
Full Time also can be relief .
But if he insist on OMO , if he already tried CDG for 9 months , then shorter route , take a CDG , no need go through another routine with TransCab .
Of course tactically , driving a CDG and driving a TransCab , different tactic altogether .
Depends on how he see it ....
