I have been thinking for quite some time , how to get the government to hear us ?
Petition ?
A petition to allow Yellow Top ownership taxis back on the road ?
Low Thia Khiang said he will help us , during one of the rally , if many of us appeal to him .
But how ?
Some had told me to talk to Low , me alone ? Without any supported documents ?
How ?
Okay , for the benefit of those new drivers , who do not know what's going on with this Yellow Top taxis .
This is what happen ....
LTA has stop issuing license to privately owned taxis .
Those on the road , u saw , it's what we called "leftover" . Becoming an extinct species soon .
Once this owner reached the age of 70 , the vehicle also scrap with them .
Now we want to own taxi , also cannot .
Die die must rent from taxi company .
Well , i was thinking ....
Letters with signatures will be the best !
Appealing letters , with your name , age and nric number .... and just a simple content : My dream is to own my very own taxi .
Full stop , short & sharp !
If Singapore all 150,000 powerful voices out , it's going to create history .
Any suggestions that we can achieve our ultimate dream ?
Any suggestion to achieve our ultimate dream ?
Pool, supported.
A lot of talks about changing the old mind set, towards paradigm shift, etc...
WP gearing 'Towards A first world parliament'.
We forging "Towards a first world taxi industry"
Its time to move the cheese!
Like tat, estimate 5 yrs time can fully paid up the veh.

not sure. guess it shld be 10 yrs also.
That reminds me of there may be a loophole in this system.
If taxi co bidded the 10 yr COE, but the taxi must scrap after 7th yr, the 3 remaining yrs, what happen?
Can purchase another veh w/o COE?
Puzzle me.
government dont want individual taxi owner cos it is difficult to regulate them.. if got complain against the taxi driver how? took away his taxi license and ban him? then taxi how? what about the GPS booking system? how the individual owner going to invest on it? then if individual owner, so no nets machines no visa machine etc?
also, there are cost of insurance, road tax, maintainence fees etc to pay for... these are not cheap... if one owner got into accident and damage his cab, go where find another cab to replace?
First and foremost , one new association has to be set up .
Name like Private Taxi Association , PTA .
A new President , Chairman , treasurers , excutive members , etc ... and the rest of the members .
Then one of the finance company to run the loans , overseeing all related insurances .
And tender out regular servicing to a specific Auto Centre , at special rates , if members agrees . If not they have to find their own servicing .
Members are to abide to the regulations regulated by LTA .
Taxi fares and value added services has to get approval from PTC .
Or current Singapore Taxi Drivers Association to continue .
STDA .
Since they got those license issues by government .
Now decision lies with LTA to let those issuing of license to be continue .
Without it .... we cannot say anything concrete .
Once the appeal granted , then we can say plan something .
It was there since 1980 or even earlier , why was it taken out ?
Private Taxi company will keep those big brothers on their toes .
Rental cannot suka suka liao ...
I can only see one main reason , to give Public listed taxi companies an advantage .
Typical PAP's style .
What i was trying to do ....
We first must get LTA approval to re-instate the ruling of not issuing anymore private own taxi license .
If they approved that , then we can see how to improve further , one that current owners failed to do so , or failed to comply .
One condtion i favoured , is that such license to be given only to drivers that has surpass the age of 45-yr-old .
Instead of loittering around doing nothing , those with license can buy a taxi , and drive , as well as lease out .
So in times of retrenchment , they do not need to worry anymore .
And they did not need to worry about high rental and high overheads .
Rather than loittering around coffee shops and casino .
As for bank loans of the taxi , i have to agree to the banks that daily giro amount , has to be complied . equivalent to such practise by those taxi companies .
In failing to do so , in 14 days , taxi will be repossess and be sold to the next owner .
Pay everyday , until car loan completed , like any other cars in Singapore .
Being in a so called " Democratic " society , we are so call not so democratic in this policy .
More like Communism in taxi industry .
I believe Singapore , are the one and only in the Developed countries , if not in the world , that taxis are not owned by taxi drivers .
