Hi Everyone,
Good morning to you. I'm in the process of enrolling for the TDVL.
Got the approval letter from LTA, will get my x-ray result tomorrow, so intend to register for the course on friday. Have a few questions which I hope the seniors (probably I'm not qualified yet to call you guys that, I have not even pass the test! :) ) or the more experience folks here can advise.
Guessed these questions might be posted many times already, but hope you can bear with me.
Understand I can register with three companies for the TDVL courses, STA, Comfort and SMRT.
-> What are the pros and cons with signing with the difference companies?
-> Are the tests/exams papers different for the three companies?
-> Am I obliged to drive with them if I sign for the course with anyone of them?
-> I was hoping to be able to do the course using e-learning. But I read that it's no longer available?
That's all for now. I will probably have more questions as I get along.
Thanks in advance for all the advises.

No lar , all i know .
Only diff , if u signed up with them , and later on to hire a taxi from them , they will reimburse your course fee back .
But all come with a contract , and old toyota crown if available .
Nothing come cheap .
I will not ask the course fee back and drive Toyota Crown .
Crown ? Over my bead body .
Why don't you ask SMRT , if u take up the course , if they can give you a Chevrolet ?
Hi Poolman, komade,

Hi Firebee,
Thanks for your information. I would have preferred to go for option 1, the full time (express). But am still in a full time job, so can't afford to take some many half days.
So most likely will opt for 3, the online cum classroom, I believe it should be reasonably fast also rite? Provided I pass the test I know :)
Am going to collect my x-ray result later, then go now to comfort to register tomorrow :)

Hey guys, I am also in the midst of applying for the taxi licence. I went down to Sin Min and the person there told me there is no online course? He said I need to attend class on weekdays from 7pm-9pm for 2 weeks. Which option is that?
Similarly I am also holding a full time job hence if there is really option 3, I will surely go for that option.
Can someone pls elaborate more on option 3? It seems even the person at Sin Min was not sure. SO I can take everything from home except the orientation?
Cannot be lah, where got online no more, must be the lecturers getting less and less student if all go online, IT sometime really cut people jobs. You try book on line Goto Comfort web and book, there will be instruction to follows.
Actually hor, if you dun mind, going to nite courses also not bad, you learn more, know more kakis and buddies. Then later when you drive, meet in airport or somewhere, can talk to each other and also discuss on TD issues. Like when you are new, and stuck somewhere, can also call them for advices. By internet is also good, save lots of time, but you dun get to learn much from the lecturerer.
Finally, bear in mind that everything needs hardwork and determination, if you really need it and wanted the license for now or future raining day use, sacrifice 2 weeks of hard work is nothing, more important is that you learnt, took on another skill that can able you to make a living out of it.
