ComfortDelgro introduces contactless credit card payment

SINGAPORE: Taxi operator, ComfortDelgro, is making it easier for passengers to make payments by credit cards.
On Monday, it introduced a contactless credit card payment system in its 15,600 taxis.
Under the new system, the passenger will not be required to hand over his credit card to the cabbies to make payment.
Instead of swiping the cards through the machine, cabbies can now select the passenger's preferred card choice and the passenger taps the card on the payment system's touchscreen.
The in-cab payment system also accepts charge and ATM cards.
It will start accepting ez-link and EPINS payments in July 2011.
They will replace all existing cashless payment systems in all ComfortDelGro taxis by the end of the year.
The exercise will cost the Group a total of S$5 million.
