This filter into the expressway is unsually narrow, only one lane. Normally it would be two lanes which would then merge.
While driving one can always spot a driver who is a bit kan cheong, wanting to turn ahead or switch lane.
Give way lah. We don't know the other drivers circumstances. It is not always a bad driver as we like to think. Sometimes it is an emergency there, sometimes bgr problem, sometime just want to turn or exit (as in this case), sometimes driver unsure of route.
Driving is not just look infront and bo chup the others on the side or behind. Knowledge of the roads would also help, as the desperados can be seen near turn off or exits, and you would know that other driver don't want to miss the turning.
Yes it would be good to be lined up in the correct lane while travelling, but it does not always happen.
Hi beam for what? If a driver hi-beam me from behind, I would also deliberately slow down a little, not speed up.
Singaporeans always preach about right of way but fail to understand that accident avoidance is more important than right of way almost all the time.
Don't think it is just taxi drivers. Just go drive for one day on the road and signal to change lane on a busy road and see how many people ignore your signal and step on the accelerator without giving way. Thats how bad driving in singapore is and also one of the reason why we see so many accidents on the road.
Precisely that was what I mentioned earlier... a clearcut selfish Singaporean style of driving.

Even our next door neighbours hav more driving courtesy
than us. Look at the cars on the NSHW if theres a hold up
on the right lane aka overtake lane most likely its a SG car there...........
Originally posted by Guess?:FYI, there is two turning left junction, one to Toh Tuck Rd and PIE Changi. Whether is it peak hours or not, many drivers will still occupy the first two lanes on the left to make a turn to PIE. So this issue is not a fresh one to take note. Do you know now LTA is widening a lot of one lane exit into two lanes at most expressways. Nowadays motorcycles and cars are top many. Please don’t complain or else road users will pay more and more to use the road everyday. We can help by practicing a Good Driving Habit ourselves, me too can’t make people follows my Defensive Driving. As long as we plan our route earlier, drive safely and it will make your day a pleasant one. When you think back, ask yourself, am I really need to bother how others drive?
Well said~~~

no way man
up north driving habits far far worse.
motorbike boh cheng hu, cars dont give way, and a lot of road hoggers and plenty of dangerous driving. a lot of accidents. the last time I was up north, I passed a fatal accident (yet another) where 5/6 occupents killed. driver lost control and the SUV went straight into the bridge pillars. I was surprised there was even a survivor, when the vehicle was actually WEDGED between the pillars.
another vivid one I saw was one where a proton wira fell into the longkang. the engine actually flew off. don't think anyone survived that also. that one was caused by the driver attempting to overtake on the small road with blind-spot, then he last minute saw oncoming traffic and swerve into longkang.
and many of the traffic lights are like our trains....show 99 seconds but never move for minutes!

AYE-ECP frm tuas to changi.......
GREAT JOB BRO! RECORD AND VIDEO AND SHOW IT TO COMFORT AND TRAFFIC POLICE AND MAKE SURE DEMERIT POINTS. PROBABLY THIS LOSER HAS ONLY LEFT 6 POINTS AND SUSPEND HIS LICENSE. THEN THE ROAD IS SAFE FROM ANOTHER SCUMBAG TAXI DRIVER!
most TDs are like that, everytime chut signal last minute and then expect others to jam brake and allow u to cut into lane, happy happy act like king on the road. last minute cut into ppl lane . why cannot cut behind? feel inferior because driving taxi? dun worry , i will record all traffic offences and submit accordingly to TP to take action haha

Ahem.... its very often the car drivers that encroach the lane markings and then signal. I understand they do this because they believe that if they signal early, they will be blocked from changing lanes.
I too always wonder why they can't change lane behind me, must speed up and cut drastically infront of me. I always maintain at least a 2-3 car length stopping distance in smooth flowing traffic. If they signal properly, I will widen the gap for them. But they think all drivers are like them.

From his car language , he has that intention very earlier on , then he switched on the signal , then after a while switch it off , maybe when he glance back , behind too many cars to filter , and filther lane is coming up , has to made a quick decision .

He at fault at drive a TAXI to cut into people lane,
there's nothing to discuss here if he drive a normal car and cut into somebody father car..
selfish Singaporean style,
cannot tahan TAXI cut into there lane,
cannot tahan TAXI dun give way,
cannot tahan TAXI drive infront them,
cannot tahan TAXI etc etc......

1 word to describe sg drivers....... "SELFISH"
or another word ----> inconsiderate?
Very simple solution. Just give way. Put yourself in the shoes of this taxi driver. If your car length is halfway in front of the car. would u speed up and overtake or slowdown and let him pass then filter?
If you slow down then filter, u would end up stopping at that lane and let numerous car to go before you can finally filter... If that happens... all those cars behind this taxi will say stupid why stop why cannot filter?
If he slow down and let this car move before filtering, What makes you so sure that the car behind this car will let him filter too? What if he speed up and close the gap and not let this taxi filter in?
Simply put, when driving in singapore, most gungho survives... if you wait, you'll wait forever.

Sadly, this is the case of driving in Singapore today. haiz!!

Therefore road knowledge is important for both self and the other driver. You can know why the other driver is edgy if you know there is a turn ahead.
But on the signaling part. Sometime ago there was complaints that Singapore drivers do not signal, they just drive without signaling.
Things has improved slightly, they signal now, but signal for themselves.
Yes, signal for themselves.
They signal to cover themselves, when asked did they signal they can answer, looking innocently, "Yes". Signalling after you have begun changing lane, and only for three or four flashes is not signalling your intention. It serves no other purpose. But this is what I notice is the norm for car drivers nowadays.
Majority of TDs still signal their intention ahead. Those last minute signalling and turning is usually because of a slight emergency situation, that can understand.
The trend of Singapore drivers on signalling has developed into the chiong and then signal. Maybe drivers can trust one another and start to believe the other driver is not a rascal.
Beside this point, I notice there is now a slight improvement in giving way to others.
i still do not understand why Singapore drivers always accelerate when seeing signals on , and maintain when no signal lights .
