SEA Games: Hard work begins now for 2015 Games, says minister
SINGAPORE: Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, Chan Chun Sing, says the hard work begins now to get Singapore ready to host the SEA Games in 2015.
This involves preparing athletes, mobilising volunteers and organisers, and ensuring that the infrastructure is up to mark.
Mr Chan, who is an MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC, was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an inter-generational carnival held in his constituency.
He said he is also confident that the Kallang SportsHub, where the Games will be staged, will be ready on time.
"We are quietly confident, because in 12 months' time, the same time next year, we would probably see the dome of the stadium up and once that milestone is reached, then we would have passed a critical milestone.
"But then like all things in Singapore, we always have a plan B in the event of any hiccups in the construction of the stadium. So no worries, we will make sure that we put up a good show, with Singaporeans and for Singaporeans," he said.
Mr Chan added that other venues will also need to be refurbished.
He said Singapore is in discussion with the SEA Games Federation on the events to be conducted, and new venues to hold them may be explored.
"For example, if cycling comes about, then we have to see which are the venues where we can hold such things," he said.
He added that "as far as possible, I think we want this to be a Games not just for the athletes, but for the whole Singapore, for all Singaporeans to come together to celebrate and to play an active part in the Games. That's really the main reason why we want the Games here in Singapore."
Mr Chan later joined his fellow Tanjong Pagar MPs and 1,500 residents in a pizza decorating competition -

besides the sports hub ... marina centre will be the key location for those wet sports .
Like Canoeing stuffs ... Surfing etc .....
Woodlands also will be good that time , i guessed Singapore Sports School will entertain Diving there ?
I dunno .....
Just wait n see what's the deal at Sports Hub at Kallang .

It's not being negative, how much could it help to increase our collection?

But i will say, "are we only better than nothing"?

4 years down the road, who knows, maybe Bro Pool strike toto, or Bro Komade started a viet restuarant business and huat liao, 4 years is something like from sec 1 to sec 4 period, the ever changing enivorment will be faster and quicker, and the scenarios will be very much different, as TD, we only worry about next week or tomorrow, not 4 years time

That is Vivian Bala's problem .... Government's problem .Just that once announced over spending , Traffic Police will work triple hard to get back the money .

Uncle myself experience many acitivites held in S'pore .
My most memorable was the IMF Conventions !
Then maybe YOG ... of course Formula One every year .
One word to describe IMF period : Power .
From there , i realized the spending power of business class people .
Far above tourist .
I always felt , for me , business class people are far more important than tourist .
of course .... if both come in at the same time , i shall not complaint much either .
If given a choice ..... business class for me .
So i pay very much attention to those MICE activities to be held in S'pore .
This is the group of people , that money is not the issue , company paid everything !

The last time Singapore held a SEA game was in 1993 .

During the IMF meetings here in Singapore .
When the country came , not only the President or Prime Minster or Finance Minister came , he brought along , how do i say , a convoy of delegations !
And along with their country's media team .
Reporters , Analyse , camera men etc ....
Such activities involve the whole nation , ie .
The only thing i felt ... they are here for a very short time .
And they fly off just a couple of days in S'pore .
Simple everywhere you go , everyone welcomes the IMF involvements .

So the SEA games will be no different .
Along side the sparks of MBS .... it will be a Special One !

the YOG has not make any impact on my income. I just ply the street as per nomal. Dun want to put my expections too high. Abt time go back home and koon .
