Those short cuts can be learn at AP when the demand for cabby is high, no need to Q one, just drive thru, many learned thru that way, so end up even with low demand, some of these taiko one will still use these short cut, limos got their own pick up at arrival side.
I guess wat u said does make sense.
In every trade, one should learn the good as well as the bad and learn to adapt the style most suitable for oneself.
Some TD prefer sweeping to queuing at airport, others work on connections and .....
Each one will have their own style and preferences while at the same time knows a bit of others too.
no hard and fast rule of who is more right or wrong right?
Those so called "shortcut" at AP are ILLEGAL, unless the marshall come out and direct you to do so.

Fark lah, Just drive happily and smart can liao lah, ask yourself, happy driving bo, if happy can liao
WizQ, when u were driving full time, wished u could quit taxi business. Now desktop liao, itching to drive again because u missed out the fun? :-)
Old Birds tricks.....
Around 11pm+.... many OLD hands will stop moving, ie, waiting for midnite surcharges to kick in..... there could be gaps after the T1 tunnel, before the Carpark-Taxi-Q entrance.
The TDs who joins the Q from Airport Boulevard won't know that.... Only those who "walky group" will probably know... and can cut Q... (becos the OLD hands) had stopped shifting their vehicles.
The other way.... is to cut in from "behind" around the AP childcare drop off point. Normally, before midnite kick in, many will closed one eye and let that Tai-Ko to cut Q...
But after-midnite... this can consider hijacking.
(If I was there, I will likely) HORN at that Tai-Ko all the way.... & speak to the AP marshal. Complaining to LTA could take a while before the authority calling you for a interview in regards to that incident.
If you really want to teach him a lesson.... but all means...
If not... then do the above-mentioned..... HORNING. It normally works. Unless that Tai-Ko is deaf. ![]()

Airport q system also must master. U must fully understand how to q there and all the shortcuts from t1-t3, t2-t1, and all the various lanes inside. Trust me, after 1 yr u still may not know all the airport "secret paths" and free waiting areas and the routes some taiko drivers even taiko chrysler cabbies use to shortcut the q at certain timings. Lots of mickey mouse going on all the time at airport. Waste time or not, at this stage just follow n learn.
wo shi yi ge zhen dang de shang ren......... no shortcuts......... ![]()

Throw Throw Throw Keys. ![]()
Bingjames, if ur hirer tells u to "fuckoff" on xmas eve, he stinks. Super taiko. If u can help it, just throw key after u handover on xmas eve. No need to warn, let him feel stunned. Find another hirer. If u cannot afford to stop driving, and your family depends on u to bring in all the bacon, then u must become hirer asap. There r many taiko hirers out there who will exploit relief who r desperate for taxi income n who have no choice but to agree to all the hirers demands.

I am ok when he want me to rest one day so he can drive full day the whole day.
what I not ok is he insist I must take over him from 12 noon the next day, cos he would be too tired to drive on Sunday.
Got to pay him $20 to start at noon, but by sunday already no ppl, still want me to drive 17 hours.

If I were u, I'll throw key liao! If cannot afford to, start looking for new hirer n when get new hirer, leave key in cab on last day n tell him u want to rest 1 yr.
Must be gentleman n stick to agreement. He's yr partner not yr boss u know. Any unusual arrangements must be discussed n mutually agreed upon, not boom times ask u to rest n lull periods must drive.
Btw, I'm a hirer but was a night relief for 2+ yrs.

Yes.... i agreed with you bro...
Holiday eves are the BONUS time for TDs.... normally TDs will clock a above then normal average for these days....$$$
If hirer only thinks about himself... then what is the point sharing half of his rental-burden for the rest of the Non-event days ?? ![]()

Must warn TDs....
haha, maybe u are right!
knn, never warn me also.
must learn to phui here too!!!
Mercedes cab's hirers used to act big shot.... especially the Soverign dayz.... (only about 400 units on the road back in 2004).
If you ever drive for those "fuckers", you really cursed and sweared. I drove for 1 such idiot for 6 months before throwing key onto his Fu*k Face....
.
Eat shift-changing time, eat diesel, eat my cash card.... eat this... eat that... worst is "come my carpark and take cab - no fetch & send.. PHUI.... (Bro BCL fetched my home a few times, on charity
)......
Now you have many to choose from.... don't worry Bingjames....
After CNY.... Relief is the KING. ![]()
Maybe you are NEW BIRD.... Hirer taking you for granted.
what's holding me back from throwing key is maybe he not that bad la
been in this business for 2 weeks liao, still no need to pump diesel, he settle for me.
see so many ppl at petrol kiosk washing car but I no need, just pay him $4, he do it.
but I suspect $4 abit high and sometimes he never wash, but who cares.
Reason I compromise cos my thinking he daytime no surcharges, he might earn little, so pity him la. but dunno if it's true. Maybe day shift driver can PM me some advise.
But I noticed for the same 12 hours shift, he always clocked more than me, 500+ compared to mine 300+, only only 400 on Christmas eve.
But what I really not shiok is he after earning so much for the night still want me to cover him $20, this type money also "kan bu kai". He take away all the meat and now want me to sweep 17 hours with all the bones left on the streets.
