Can IRAS know how much u earn as a TD ?

  Since the 6k & 7k earnins /mth on taxi earnings (true or half true or not true, boastful,how lian 2 TD )appear on local major papers,many TD are now worry if their door will be knocked by IRAS officers. question is does IRAS know how much they earn(get fr taxi company ,in turn get data fr taximeter)

  Income (revenue) is a grey area for many TDs.

  Some, drive for Fun (Semi-Retired), Some Over declared like that joker....

  the authority knows the "average income" on "average drivers" lah... but many are under declared....  (including me)

  if u ferry your own family members.... u need to switch on meter as well [LTA regulation] but did u collect money from your family members? so, how do keep track on the meter amount ?

  Better to pay abit then they keep calling you, once I declare 20,000, they call me go drink kopi many times, until my taxi fares is more than enuf to pay the tax. knn

  They Uncle, how can you a sole bread winner of 3 childrens, a wife and a old mother able to live on 20,000 per year. I told them, go ask Minister lor, they said 1,000 can live in HDB happily liao, I just fall short of it abit.

  Then they threaten me again, Uncle, if we find out that this is a under declare amount, you are liable to go to jail and get a hefty fine. Are you so sure driving taxis is your only Income.?!

  Last few years, you declare 38,000, now 20,000, please explain, what we had is only a car downloading company saying you work with them for 2 years as partimer with CPF and medisave, are you doing any other illegal stuff.

  Then I told them, alamak, sir, last time I work as car downloader, get 18000 per annual, then drive partime taxis, I declare 20,000, now no more doing car unloading, so naturally left with 20,000 to declare lor.

  Then they said ok ok, just dun try to be smart and outsmart us, we know what you are doing.

  Then I bang table lor, knn, if you dare, put me in changi now lor, talk so much for what, if you keep calling me to your office, next declare will be 18k, because you guys waste alot of my time, put me in,...you take care of my family better, I go inside can relax and got better food, can exercise and get educated. Put me!

  Then, they quiet quiet said, cool down uncle, you can go.

  IRAS Just need to download the accumulated income record from your Taxi Meter and

  Don't even need to touch your Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) alreally have your pass income record.

  Don't believe go Blk 28 Sin Meng, Soon Heng Taxi Meter Service ask Ah Heng

  Ya ,can dl to know yr GROSS earnings. these records are kept for more than 5 yrs ? I doubt so. Next,u can claim relief fr accident repairs,carpark,summons (all these are business cost). So even if u do earn $30k,u still no need to pay income tax after deducting 1 wife, 3 children, cpf,cpf top ups,donations(at 2.5x deduction) so DECLARE HONESTLY.

  now, my transportation company has a binding contact with my guests.... have to declare zhun zhun... but i wasn't taxed for last year too.... becos, i can deduct Vehicle's depreciation from my annual income....(only that i am paying more to my Medisave as a Self employed).

  $7,000 x 12 months = $84,000 ?  Honest enough ?

  Then honestly, 84,000-$40000 accrue rental liability, and $15000 fuel consumption including taxation, the EBIT will be 29k, take away reliefs for parents, medisave and contribution to CPF, you will be left with 22k, tax free.

  Yr jealous neighbour or sby dislike u will report to IRAS. why report ? becos u flaunt to show off. that was how some professionals(doctors,lawyers,property agents,insurance agents,td who stay at condos,landed property) & hawkers got into trouble w IRAS.

  As long as Taxi Driving is classify as low income group............

  No issue la.............

  Many TD even apply to �社 for help.............every year, free books, free uniform for their children............

  So far, I believe IRAS still classify TD as low income group.............so, An La!................

  Basically it's very simple. Declaring high gives him the edge, in two years time he will be able to get credit cards and personal loan.

  But "siow liao" medisave cost him $4,200.00. Medisave not paid, license cannot renew. Can't get a loan from the Bank so had to borrow from Legal "Ah Long" lor. No money to pay money lenders so lan lan wait for bankruptcy lor.

  How much each taxi driver earn is recorded through MDT. Only taxi company knows. IRAS can access this data if they want.

  Which comes back to the question. Why is IRAS and Taxi company keeping quiet, when Sunday Times say Taxi Drivers can earn $7000?

  Then another question comes to mind. Why are Taxi Drivers getting so worried about what is published in Sunday Times? There were so many lies published there. Earning $7000 is one. Everywhere Pax waving for Limo Maxi Taxi is another.

  CPIB should check these reporters for drug abuse. If they don't take drugs, they must be drunk while working or maybe smoking weed.

  They are Sunday Times reporters after all. Let them be drunk, take drugs or smoke weed on Sunday. As long as they publish the truth on Monday! everything is okay.

  It is an individual opinon, he can said whatever he likes within his individual environment, meaning he is saying for himself, so the laws cannot go into a person who said, I earn 10k per month, or that I am a gay, or that I got big dick. That is self declare.

  The key is therefore the reporter, the newspaper and the editor in question, and for these people, they are better protected than others, the so called freedom of press, tho control in singapore, is still very much a clause that protect them.

  So, you must learn on how to deal media, what to talk and what not to talk, if dunno, just said no comment, or that the process is still going on, at the moment, not further comment. Because for journalism, everywords is taken and record, and then twisted in their flavour.
