Need Advice: What To Do Now?

After reading the reoprt in Sunday Times by a new age taxi driver that working 8 hours a day can nett a profit of $7K a month, I resigned from my current job.
I already have the LTA letter in May, so registered for course with SMRT, coz they will train and place you after passing TVDL.
Yesterday over the radio 91.3 the fellow say only $5K, but not impposible, and he wonders why the more experienced drivers cannot do it.
I read through many threads here, one thread says can earn up to $15K.
even Mr PoolMan also say $30K no problem.
so my urgent question is driving a cab, can make $3K or $30K?
which is the truth?

Also, the guy said in Sunday Times that he willing to show how to earn $7K a month, how to contact him?
my initial target as a newbie is onli $5K, not too high right?

Ask them to be super relief for one or two weeks, maybe first week training, then another week really on the road earning, all these local journalists only like to sit in office and when get farking unreliable source, just anyhow reports.You see those BBC ones, even mountain they also go, to understand the tribe peoples, they stay with them, I saw one show on TV that CEO also go down to work as undecover worker inorder to understand workers, why our journalists cannot do it, if you want to know, JDI

if you want to choose td as a career for a long term, i advise you to think carefully there are some plus and minus as a td, as you can see it is a job not respected by many people no cpf, no mc , no leave etc especially if you are young if you want to buy property, you will find yourself limited when come to taking a loan some financial company like GE money and other similar company, when they know you are a td, immd you get rejection out there , they are td who earn 1k 1.5k 2k to 3k in this taxi industries, i think average income is between 2-3k except for some omo who drive long hour to have more income, so income for individual is very subjective yes, maybe you can achieve 7k, but do you think you can do that everyday , 365 days or 3650days. important thing now is you take a look at our economy at the moment, still strong as last 2 years and continue to stay strong or is thee any sign of slowing ? if the economy slow now means what? cut spending, cut expenses, how many people will switch from taking a taxi to take mrt/buses? what kind of measure will company do? continue to allow staff to take taxi and claim as they like to put restriction on it? even it is really 7k now, will it be forever lasting go check news way before 2009 about taxi companies having to park their taxi with no takers as many return due to poor business, will this happen again so think twice again, i got no right to stop you to come to this trade, but just want you to be sure before you decide to take up the job

Yep, you're right... 30k is what most taxi drivers earn every month when they are lazy... those so so average drivers anyhow also earn $50k... all up to how hard you want to work... like me, I drive taxi16 hours easily sustain my bunglow and girlfriends in different countries life style... so yes, drive taxi can make you a millionaire easily within the next 3-5 years... you and I are going to make so much money together... -

started my taxi course.
instructor says one month average $3k to $4k profit driving omo.
about 10 to 12 hours can be done.
kenan con by the guy say can make $7k drive 8 hours per day.
so all the postings about $10K etc all smoke?
or there is something more to it tat cannot share openly?
