Not bad leh ..... "Don't allow shift change at peak hours !!!"
Not bad also leh : " In many countries , Taxi Booking is free " by Ramesh Ramchand .
Straits Times actually publish such craps posted by readers ?
*sigh* *haiz* .....
Dunno what will Tammy Tan from ComfortDelgro will reply to Ramesh Ramchand for that sort of feedback ?
" We will be looking into it , thank your for your valuable feedback ."
i think what he mean is catch/ban those staying chinatown man la
The approach toward way of utlilisation of Taxis lies in all parties concern,
The ways paxs take taxis, the ways LTA set the rules and regulation, the ways taxi driver plying on the road, and the ways taxis companies care and share with their drivers, set rental and fares. All these are within the taxi trade, each one is like a thread wovering each other to make the cloth fabric withstand the times.
But unfortunately, the approach seems to point toward the service provider, and that is alway the Taxis driver. We are the easiest prey to get bombarded in any issue regarding taxi industrial, but taxis trade is not just about taxi driver, and to make it productive (high utlilisation), it takes lots of hands to clap together, otherwise, with our usual Blaming culture, the end product is alway to be blame, and that is not going to be productive.
Pax complain, TD kenna
Company get complaint, TD kenna
Rental default or scratches here and there, TD kenna
LTA set new rules and regulation, end up TD have to face the music
Accident, win or lose case, TD kenna, why, cos income sure to lost
So you all tell me, how on earth is taxi driving going to be productive if the man holding the steering is not well taken care off and instead he or she is alway get pounded from the usual top down blaming culture
Thumbs up, toes up, everything up for bowah!!!
cxxk up oso...
I am a Taxi Driver who serve with a heart
But my heart is happy and enjoyable when yesterday, after 2 continuous NO SHOW, i reject all call booking, see long queue of paxes waiting at Taxi Stand, I zoom pass every Taxi stand, even stop infront of one Taxi Stand and take my time for a cig. break.
Why like tat?
The operating system will just lead Taxi Driver to a Revenge Mode, it may sound silly...... but that's the fact i use it to balance myself.
Dont allow shift change during peak hour and taxi booking free.
Its possible, why not?
But must change the fare structure to.... (no change in Taxi Rental)
Flag down $5.50
every 100m, $0.60
after 5 km, every 100m, $0.80
every 30 sec wait, $0.60
Booking fee will not be borne by Pax, instead Taxi Company will 'reward' TD for every successful booking. TD can 'reject' booking, as many as he like.
If you do a search on Taxi Fares in other countries.
Short trips of less than 5 km will cost S$40 to S$60.
Longer trips of about 15 km will cost about S$80 or more.
I am not suggesting to increase the Taxi Fare.
I am just highlighting that all things is possible, but they come at a different cost.
This Ramesh guy say that TD can enjoy coffee while waiting for call.
IF TD 'enjoy' coffe instead of going OTR. He will surely OBK.
I pee also no time, dont talk about drink coffee.
Alamak, gotta to go, today cannot meet target liao.

u not only one, happen to me too..
i also use a cig to reset my mood, so that can keep on driving..
it's quite normal once no show , i run ....... i really dun care if there is anyone at that taxi Q .
Cos my next call 100% will come in , when only ?
Who suffer ?
Not me lah definitely ....... cos my next pax will be a happier pax , that's all it matters .
Changing Shift is seriously meant for drivers changing shift , going home , second driver start work ...... but it got abuse far too much .
It got a bit contradicting when u allowed changing shift , and impose that 250km ruling to deal with OMOs .
More OMOs mean no shift to change , change what shift ?

i think that some effort should be spend to educate the public to honor their booking,
it's not only effect the Taxi Driver, it's also affect the service level to other Taxi user too
but again, such move got to spend money and no "money" return, will our authority do it?
Funny was that i change shift when i am not going home ....
The best is , when i want to go home ( friday night ) , i dun put Change Shift .
I go home straight away ......
On a more serious note ..... i really dun mind Changing Shift to be totally scrapped .
Unless drivers stopped abusing the priviledge of Changing Shift .
But i dun think i will stop so soon .
For me , it's either u work , or stop work .
TAXI or BUSY , clear cut .
short n sweet. red n green colour. good for everybody..
I read all the comments and the actual news clip with amazement really only one question pops up in my mind as a taxi driver in Singapore what am i
1. "An Entrepreneur" or
2. "an employee
if i am an Entrepreneur then who the f**k is the compnay LTA or any body else to tell me how to conduct my business as long as i am doing it within the frame work of contract signed with the "Taxi Leasing Company" and road rules defined by LTA.
and if i am a employee (a big bloody joke) may i have the cheque nos of my last year salary paid to me
else in case of me being entrepreneur please shut the F up and join the queue like the rest waiting for taxi or go play sardine in bus or MRT
although very blunt, but it the truth.. pax say no taxi, lta do something.. drivers say traffic jam everywhere, lta come up with smlj gps erp.. what u call this? double standard?
LTA and taxi companies will implement thing if there is a interest that benefit them, not entirely the public (paxs) and certainly, never the TD.
Even as an entrepreneur, you need to do your business within the framework of your business ethic, rules and regulation. If you open company, you need to oblige the business laws and the space and licence for operation, safety, audit and many other licencee to run whatever trade you want to do.
An entrepreneur is one who built or go into his own business with an entrepreneurship ambitious within himself, he owes no one a flavour and does, do not neccessary need to take order from anyone but just follow the rules of operating his on going business.
A taxi driver is different, he is one who immersed himself by looking for a taxi to drive, and with a govt that do not allow self own taxis, he therefore needs to look for taxis company to rent out a taxis, and as such, he needs to follow the rules and regulation of the company he rented out the taxis.
And because he ply his business in the public, therefore he is further compounded by LTA rules and regulations and many others building or condos regulations. He is not an entrepreneur who are ambitous people but rather a small self employed person that take in more or less, a stable income.
