Dear brothers and sisters,
The TRUTH,
Rear tires provide stability, and without stability, steering or braking on a wet or even damp surface might cause a spin. If you have new tires up front, they will easily disperse water while the half-worn rears will go surfing.
The water will literally lift the worn rear tires off the road. If you're in a slight corner or on a crowned road, the car will spin out so fast ( as we locally say, the car will buang.) you won't have time to say "Oh, Shit ! "
There is no "even if" to this one. Whether you drive a front-, rear- or all-wheel-drive car, truck, or SUV, the tires with the most tread go on the rear.
Drive Safe.
New tyres must be put at the driving wheel. So front wheel drive put front. Rear wheel drive put rear. Traction is important on the driving wheel that's where the power is to pull the car. The non driving wheel just merely rolling nia.....
one point to add
New Tyres should be of the same made / thread as the existing tyres
Got a taxi i drive 2 new Westlake tyres in front, 2 existing Hankook tyres behind
when go through speed regulating strips on road will skid a bit even on dry weather !
google the internet on this subject,
call the workshop of Das Auto (distributor for Volkswagon) 90% of their cars are front wheel driven.
be an informed driver, do not let the workshop mechanic tell you what to do regarding this matter, thier job is to extend the lifespan of the car tires.
TS, i do not understand what is your intention over here i am not against what you say or agree to it if your intention is good, maybe you should not just google or ask just Das Auto you should go to AA or tyre manufacturer for a more clear cut answer and share it not just at this taxi forum but even more cause taxi driver make up a small number on the road only, how about the rest, you don't care ?
