New London taxis for wheelchair bound passengers
SINGAPORE — SMRT has begun replacing its fleet of London taxis, which are wheelchair accessible, with new vehicles. This comes as the existing fleet of London taxis reach the end of their statutory lifespan this month.
Four of the new taxis, which run on automatic transmission and are Euro 4 compliant, went on the roads yesterday, with another 26 set to follow by August. SMRT has also set up a dedicated hotline for its wheelchair accessible taxi service.
““We are pleased to be able to, not just continue our provision to the wheelchair-bound in Singapore, but also to expand that by making more wheelchair accessible taxis available for them,” said Mr Desmond Kuek, President and Chief Executive Officer of SMRT Corporation.

but i hear that london cab driver earn more money cos got lots of special bookings for them, weddings, wheelchair jobs + 18 etc.

Bo eng lah....wedding use this? Must be those cheapos cannot afford a decent ride like a Jaguar XJL or a MB S class or a BMW 7s....I dun serve cheapos.....
Wheel chair job? $18 I also dun entertain....I see wheel chair I sianzzz liao....so heavy must carry sometimes also smelly...And also cheapo if not call civic ambulance liao...I dun entertain....

haha cheapos i not too sure, for the wedding i was talking to one of the london cab drivers, they usually hire quite a few of the london cab machiam like convoy like that..they say cute? i scratch my head and wonder why cute! but they pay extra for the flora arrangement for the london cab also, all the london cab driver stand by their own floral arrangement for their cab each wedding i heard is 80 to 120 extra if they provide their own floral arrangement.
seldom see london cab pick up from street taxi stand etc, mostly they got call booking exclusive for their own fleet from smrt.

With so many "patterns" aka taxi models to choose from....
London cabs will not appeal to "Lau Jiö's" TDs drivers at $158 daily rental lah....
Not that there are no other choices....
knn... unless the meter jumps at $0.33 or more.Even Vellfire taxi look much better choice than the new fleet of London cabs....

U want ? Recently got complain in newspaper forum that cabbies refused to pick up wheelchair pax. Dun be surprised that lta officer will chut stunt n liaise with those handicapped association n purposely wait cab with wheelchair paxes. Hope those cabbies who refused to pick up got call to drink coffee.

Well...
Generally speaking .. some TDs are not willing to go down and assist the passenger on luggages at the Airport....
U think they will do it for wheelchairs ?

My understanding for the daily rental is....
If the London Cab's hirers fulfil their daily jobs quota arranged out by their Premier Group departure, their daily rental is @ $130++
If Own-Time-Own-Target driver, then the rental is at $150++.

So far only twice.just help while I can.

Don't say TD until so bad.........
At least for me, most time is due to the wheelchair itself, cannot put into the boot........
My old Mercedes only can put in those newer version of wheelchair, not those old fashion type........
Some TD will refuse to pick also because they put too much barang barang behind the boot.........
A lot of time, we will tio call with wheelchair bound, if after assess, wheelchair can go into the boot, carry on trip lor, what's wrong, is just like pax with luggage, go airport mah!..........
But if you actually despise a wheelchair disable, than hope that karma fall on you back lor...........

Nowadays there's some high-tech wheel-chairs can disassemble easily and light-weight... Took one rich amk lady, taught me to click some buttons take out wheels easily ... then later click back...then she gave good tips.
