To pick up a handicap is not whether like it or not.........
most time, to encounter 1 on the road also not easy.........
our mind set should not be so negative towards this handicap........
my most touching encounter........
this young man on wheelchair, he wave at my taxi, I stop.........
he thank me many time because many green light taxi just zoom pass him.........
He told me if not because he have a sudden clamp on his hand, he would just stroll back slowly home.........
seeing him alone, so I get down my cab intended to help him to the back seat........
he declined, he say he can, struggling himself into the backseat, than politely request me to help him load up his wheelchair and keep saying sorry.......
at that moment, I'm touch and salute him and decided to gave him a free ride home........
good..
Sorry to say that if a person is able to walk, he or she would not be in a wheelchair.
Even at hospital, taxi also want to siam wheelchair people, last week, I was third in Q at SGH block 7, front 2 all siam, one TC, one comfort, but they go on to pick some aunties (visitors), so my turn, the daugher of a malay old man asked, Uncle..woodland. I said ok, no problem, go down help to fold the wheelchair, at least can stretch out a bit, the daughter helped her father into the cab, then I move out, to my surprise, the father is also a taxi driver.
He told me, I understand taxi drivers mentality, I was once like them, siam here and there, and now in wheelchair, I realise I should had help those in difficulties. You are a good taxi driver.
Lim peh hear already, seibei song feeling, then I said, brother, no problem, you sick and also taxi driver, lucky you are a relief, if OMO, abit jialat to get relief.
So gentlemen, as I said before, it is at the extreme of suffering, that one get to appreciate happiness when one is served. Hope that we do not have to end up wheelchair bounded.
Remember, happines derive from helping others and making others happy, not merely a midnite trip from CCK to AP

"Many TDs" will siam....
Some from.... suddenly become BUSY...
I was at SGH Block 5 the other day waiting for my Pax....
When a wheel-chaired passenger comes out from lobby, the 2 taxis (in front of the Q) in the Q suddenly turned out of the Q.... Funny... AO = Auto Out.
The Straits Times understands that at least four cabs have started to pick up passengers.
In all, 15 are expected to be in service by the end of the month.
The fleet, which will grow to 30 by August, will replace the existing 15 London cabs, which are being phased out this month after their eight-year licences run out.
SMRT, which operates the service, initially planned to phase them out last year.
But the decision triggered an uproar among wheelchair-bound commuters, who highlighted the lack of transport options for the disabled here.
The roomy vehicle is the only type of taxi in Singapore that can accommodate high-backed, motorised wheelchairs.
The Government later extended the leases of the vehicles by a year. Last year, SMRT was awarded a $3.1 million grant from the Government to bring in a new fleet of London cabs.
The Straits Times understands that the new taxis are a uniform white, unlike the old ones which come in a variety of colours such as champagne gold and pink.
Wheelchair-bound commuters, who lobbied hard to keep the service, were looking forward to the arrival of the new fleet.
Some drivers said they had bookings that came in as early as three days ago. The new cabs can now be booked just two days in advance, instead of at least three previously.
University student Bao Yang tried out the new taxi yesterday, as he travelled from his home in Jurong West to Chinese Garden.
The 20-year-old, who suffers from muscular dystrophy, has been taking the London cab to school almost daily for the last seven years.
"The ride is less bumpy and more comfortable because of the new engine and interior fittings, but it largely looks the same," said the Nanyang Technological University student.
Drivers, however, were concerned about the higher rental for the new vehicles - about $120 to $130 a day compared to about $110 previously.
"We were told the increase is due to rising costs. Hopefully, there will be enough bookings to cover this as there are now more London cabs on the roads," said a driver, who declined to be named as he did not have clearance from his company.
But fares for passengers are expected to remain the same. They pay the metered fare on top of a $10 booking fee or $18 advance booking fee.
Disabled mouth-painter Gilbert Tan still felt that 30 of such cabs here is too few.
Said the 52-year-old, who has been using the service for the last 20 years: "It is indispensable to us because even if some of us can travel by bus or MRT, there are places buses and trains don't go to. Yet, there are so few cabs for so many of us."
Some have proposed having a dedicated transport service run by a few major transport providers for the disabled.

Siao di di, do you know who hold the biggest shares of SMRT? it is a state own enterprise turn privatisation so as to churn profit. In another words, it is still a govt company, so naturally, govt will support and infuse funds into it, and what is 3.1m, just 2 day ERP can earn back liao, or one COE exercise is more than enuf liao.
As hirer, are you a shareholders of SMRT, if not, pay the rental same as any private entity, if not, can go drive for other company

SJJ from 1 - 9999 = 9999 vehicles
9999 * average at about $65k = $649,935,000.

That is why, they should plough back to help Singaporeans and drop the nos 1 notion and mentality that had even influenced our chief, he, like many others must win, must be the best, must be there for everyone, which is actually not necessary but add pressure to oneself leading to strange dreams.
Come May 1, hong lim again, lai lai
