Not only here i knew quite a bit .
during my decade of driving , i personally knew many , quit civil service in Army , Navy and Airforce and drive a taxi , chin jiak lat .

So i will tell my son and daughter DO NOT sign on .
Or he will be like his father drive taxi after those contracts in the Defense force .

80s and 90s army compare to now very different la.......
Why a lot of ex civil servant driving taxi?........
Most likely is due to the retirement age last time, at 55(now i think can extend to 65), for officers 45, what can you do anymore?.......
Many of my old Encik ended up become hawkers(very common), TD, insurance agt, property agt, but back to workforce, not many, but nowadays got a lot of ST company, DSTA, so some better educated Encik will opt for 2nd career in Army in civilian, no more uniform and kpkb.........

can say i mixture of both...
i was in PNS til ord....
then i sign on as army regular for 11yrs til i hang up my helmet and boots...
if want to sign regular har, sign on as an officer better.... specialist better not cos its a sandwich class (pte ~msg) til u promote to Warrant Officer.
been thru many things for past 11yrs really...
can u believe now its possible to get SSG in 4yrs, 3WO in 7yrs...

I'm a very regimental guy, a pity had to leave army reluntantly........
From all my past posts, never for once I will write something against SAF except that stupid NS45 things.........
Sigh, time really past, thinking back those years in Army, no regrets.........

No, I never step straight into TD life after I came out from army......
Still young and ignorant that time, smlj also chiong, smlj also try.......
But you are right, in army, use mouth and eye can dang jiak liao, knn, after left army, suddenly every part of my body also need to use........
Only when èµ°æŠ•æ— è·¯, a thinker by my good friends, than decided to step into TD life, 1 of the biggest mistake I have ever make(I talking about myself, different people, different thinking hor, don't bombard me) in my life........
First 2 years really cannot adjust my thinking, di di want to find fault with pax, argue with pax, scolding pax.......lucky last time taxi driving not so strict, I ever scold a female pax until she cry, and I keep scolding and scolding, reach destination, her boyfriend standby there liao, see me also lang lang........
When a person cannot see open after becoming a TD, life very tough lor, the turning point is when I met my mentor(the rest don't need to repeat liao), that's why I'm glad some forumers here found their mentor and become a better TD, drive taxi cannot alone 1, is proven and try not to be iron teeth lor........
If outside real world cannot meet friends, than find kakis here lor, so many outing and gathering, a real taxi stand group for you to join, mai kor du liao.......
